A friend purchased a new choke (gauranteed for 40 yds with 20" pattern). we patterened on sunday - It does what it says! but shot 1 foot to the left each time. Is this the choke or could it be the type of shot? Pattern was extrememly good! He is shooting 00 buck 3.5 inch shells. Anyone ever experience this or know where we can go to get answers?

You might want to pose this same question over in the shotgun section of this website. Also it is helpful if you list what Model of shotgun and what brand of shell he was using.

Welcome to the THR! :D

What kind of choke is he using?

Out of what type of shotgun?

Have you tried different brands or different size of buckshot instead?

Chances are you will find a different brand or size that will pattern a little better out of the gun in question.

Consistently to the side is probably how you mount up on the gun. I know with a vent rib and bead I will put all slugs 6inches right at 25 unless I carefully check where I am on the rib.

He is shooting 00 buck 3.5 inch shells.

He has a higher tolerance for recoil than I do.

Yeah, try a few other loads in that choke to see if its the load or the choke or the hold.

Bead/rib is not a terribly precise sight picture.

Also, how did it shoot before adding the choke? I've had a bent barrel on a shotgun that looked fine but shot around corners. If I hadn't remembered dropping the gun, I wouldn't have suspected the tube. A gunsmith fixed it.
