Hello everyone,

Just received my order of 200 Gr RNFP plated 45 ACP bullets from RMR.

Do I use the lead load data for plated?

Hornady's reloading manual load data for 200gr LEAD C/T (COL 1.225) and 200gr SWC (COL 1.2)

800FPS 4.6gr 850 FPS 5.0gr 900FPS 5.3gr 950FPS 5.7gr.

Hodgdon's website load data for 200gr cast LSWC (COL 1.225)

4.8gr 877FPS and 5.4gr 957FPS

I know i'm suppose to start low and work my way up. Will the load data for LSWC matters if I'm using RNFP?

Do I use the COL? or use the Plunk test?

also is there a measurement to determine when my taper crimp is good to go?

Thank you

Always Use the plunk test.

Use lead data or mid-level jacketed data.

Do Not reduce below the starting load.

Taper crimp should measure .471" at the case mouth if the bullets are .452".

Along with what rcmodel said (always listen to rcmodel, always) keep in mind what you will use your loads for. Plated can be loaded with lead data, up to mid-plated data (check with the manufacturer for specific recommendations, some plate thicker than others). But if you're shooting bullseye matches you may not need to go to the upper end if you find an accurate load sooner. I load 200 swc to a desired velocity whether lead, coated or plated, so I know that POI will be consistent. If you're looking for more punch, of course you'll want to go higher than I do.
