Took my Saiga 308 out to the range today. Unfortunately, I only had 20 rounds of 308 (worst part is there NO more on island).

But here's my problem, I ran out of adjustment for my scope. I know to loosen the screws on the turret and adjust from there. Problem is at 100 yards, im still about 1 1/2 feet too high. And in my scope, I only see the top chevron at the very bottom (the rest of the reticle is gone from the picture). My scope is the 8x Weaver Mount POSP on the Texas Weapon System Rail Dust cover.

Any solutions? I spent some serious cash on this scope and a little frustrated I couldn't get it sighted in

When all else fails, shim it. I'm going out on a limb here and saying it's not the scope but the weapon/mount. I'm sure you know that mounting scopes on AK's is like dipping your french fries in ice cream. I don't think anyone planned for it but people do it all the time.

Could you show me a pic of your exact set-up? If it has two separate "rings" you could use an aluminum or brass shim where the top of the claw meets the 1913. I had this issue with side to side adjustment with a sight on a beryl style rail and that's how I did it. I just put a little angle of aluminum inside the claw of the back clamp and it moved it enough to work just fine. Start out with a tiny thin shim because thousandths of an inch here translate huge down range.

Could you maybe add a bit of aluminum here at the very back of the mount to shim it up? I mean, shimming isn't really the most accurate way of doing things but it's not going to hurt if you don't take it off and on it will hold zero if it's cinched down.

Thanks bud. It's going to be awhile before I get back out and try it. No ammo to be found.

I took the bottom mount plate off the bottom of the scope then used a large flat file and hack saw to shorten the legs. It worked ok. I know I did some drilling and might have used some new screws to re attach the plate. If you don't want to do this major surgery just use the scope on a flat top AR15. They are the perfect height and the short eye relief completely eliminates the usual problem of needing forward offset.

most Russian scopes I seen mount on the side and the scope comes in the mount for the side. I do not think a dust cover rail would be that good at least it looks like a dust cover mount to me

mildot? If he's shooting 1.5 feet high doesn't he need to shim the front to bring the muzzle down? In the pic it looks like the front of the scope is canted down.
