hey there
does anyone have load data for hornady 154 grain sst in 7mm remington mag using reloader 22. do you hve a recommended coal

cant get anything to pull up on hornady's site

thanks

My Speer #14 Manual lists the 160 gr bullet with RL 22 as follows:
Starting Load: 61.0 gr*
Maximum load: 65.0 gr*
*CCI 250 magnum primer used.

Above loading data can be used with your 154 gr Hornady bullets.

Hornady doesn't have load data on their website.
I guess they want to sell manuals to a few of us dummy's who buy them.

The Hornady manual says RL-22 =:
56.6 Start - 63.4 MAX, seated 3.290" OAL.

RL-25 would give more velocity.

thanks
rc , i am trying to follow guidlines as close to possible as this will be my first try with rifle, these bullets have a cannelure on them , with trimmed cases i am not to the cannelure with 3.290 oal , to get to the cannellure i am at 2.256 , i know this will raise the pressure on my start load would you reduce the start load a bit, or forget the cannelure and seat to 3.290. one reason i wanted a cannelure is i shoot an automatic

i do have a lee factory crimp die so i guess i could crimp the bullets at the stated oal

thanks for your advice (all of you) its a big help

Seat to the crimp cannulure, and start at the start load.

No need to reduce further then that.
Especially in 7mm Mag.

Alliant sez....
154 Hornady IB, SST, SP or RN Alliant RL-22 56.6 2600
154 Hornady IB, SST, SP or RN Alliant RL-22 58.9 2700
154 Hornady IB, SST, SP or RN Alliant RL-22 61.1 2800
154 Hornady IB, SST, SP or RN Alliant RL-22 63.4 2900
Remarks: maximum load

I agree with the post above completely. Seat to the crimp cannulure.

thanks
i looked on alliants site aand only found speer, guess i'll have to look harder

thanks , i will do the above

Alliant site has no data for Hornady bullets.

Alliant & Speer are both ATK companys now, and Speer is all they list data for anymore.

Older Alliant printed reloading guides did list other brands of bullets, but not since ATK bought them & Speer a few years ago.

thanks, i am getting started tonight

what increments do you guys add powder to find you best performing load, i figure i would load 5 at 56.6 the increase,

I load my remington and the savage I replace with the interbonds and interlocks at 65gr rl 19 or 22 ( both shoot close enough to the same as far as accuracy). I never had any luck with the sst bullets. I just couldn't get them to group in either of the 7s I tried dor my buddy that tried them. The interbonds shoot good but they're more expensive
I load in 1/2 gr intervals to group then ill try up or down .02 to see if that does anything for accuracy, but I find that coal will make more accuracy difference than a tenth or two either way of powder. My opinion

thanks
i shot a group of 10 with 56.7 grains and tried a group of5 with 57.0 grains , the 56.7 grouped great and the other started spreading out

all fired and cycled good, i guess pretty good for my first time, as far as i can read the brass no signs of high pressure

no, i am shooting them because it is what i could find . i am open to suggestions
i really wanted to load 160 grain game kings( i have always dropped deer in their tracks)

not to sound stupid , but what do you mean by isn't going to give you much

just trying to learn

thanks

There 154 grain data on Reloader's Nest. None with RL22. 73 grains of RL25 is one load though.
"...what do you mean by..." Nastynatesfish's key board got confused. "give you much over 2700fps."

is fps a concern when looking at how a bullet performs on a deer, do you know a good source to read up on this

thanks

It just depends on your max range distance. I shoot 162gr and 168gr. If your shooting a low charged load your not gonna get out of the 7mm what it will do. you 57 gr load isn't giving ou 270 balistics. If your recoil sensitive I get it. My loads give my about 3000 shooting the 162gr bullets. I don't know what twist your barrel is or what it shoots like, but if its a 1-9 or 1-9.5 like most 7mm's are the 160+ bullets should do as well for grouping at 100 as the 154s and carry more energy and have a better bc to keep you going at 500-600yrds.

I'm another sucker who buys manuals. But, as others have said, some manuals only list the bullets made by the company who wrote the manual. If you are looking for specific data by bullet make and powder, you can buy "The Complete Guide to Reloading the (whatever cartridge)." It's not practical to buy for every cartridge out there, but they do compile a fair amount of data across brands for a single cartridge. They are spiral bound paper booklets.

Not enough Re22 will fit in a 7mmRemMag case for a good load with a 154 gr bullet.

Most published handloading data are the product of lawyers digesting it.
7mmRemMag published data are worse.
I can get more power from my hot, but practical, 7mmMauser handloads than I can from published 7mmRemMag loads.

I hate to dig up an old thread but the best load i ever worked up EVER, was
63 imr 4350
150gr ct ballistic tip
cci primer

theres 5 in there

keddie, your informational post is always welcome, and some folks dredge up 5 year old threads instead of creating a new one.
The 7mm Remag has remained one of the top consumer favorites for a reason, it works.
