I need some load info for .40S&W. The only powder I have on hand is Titegroup, and I want to load some 180 grain cast bullets. I don't have any info in my manuals for cast bullets and titegroup. Anyone care to enlighten me?

nope, i can't enlighten you, but i can tell you what i did in a similiar situation...

seems cast bullets take a little more powder than jackets will tolerate. so, when i went to cast in my 480, i just started at the minimum jacketed load, and worked up.

i was speaking purely from a pressure standpoint... my experience w/ cast is limited only to the 480, using gas checks, and i get more velocity than i do w/ jacketed.

While leading is a problem with cast bullets, the only time it would really be a problem is with fast cartridges like the big bore revolvers and such. IF you use a good bullet with a hardness of 18-20 brinell then you should be good on the .40. I doubt you could get it fast enough to cause leading. And for the faster bullets, use gaschecks.

"...I get more velocity than I do w/ jacketed..." Hi, dakotasin. Same bullet weight? You get any barrel leading? Just curious.

In my CZ40B, I shot them with 4 grains of TG, the primers were showing evidence of pressure being right on the edge. I don't know whether to drop a couple more tenths or switch powders.

sunray- no barrel leading. cast are 355's, jackets 325. the bullets are oregon trail hard cast (the ones w/ all the silver in them), w/ gas checks. i'd have to dig my load notes up to get much more specific.

i'd like to get ahold of some cast performance 400-ish grains - i have heard of some pretty outstanding performance w/ those.

back to the 40 at hand... again, no experience w/ cast for a 40 (my 40's shoot 155 nosler jhp).
