I stumbled across a Colt Woodsman at a local shop today.

The only word I can use to describe the pistol is "clean." I'm not good at estimating NRA percentages, but maybe it's 95% or so original finish. Even if I'm off a bit, it just looked "clean."

I believe it's a fixed sight gun. There was a screw on the rear sight, but it looked to me like it just kept the unit in place and wasn't adjustable.

I think the barrel was 5", but I couldn't measure right then.

I don't know what generation it is or know enough about Woodsmans to know what is what in terms of generations anyway.

The serial number was 90625. That help date it?

Asking price is $499 with one mag, no box. The mag is either "two tone" or just has a lot of finish missing on the upper half.

Thoughts?

Go here for a lot of information about the Woodsman.

Based on your serial number, I would guess about 1934-35, but there was some serial number overlap sometimes.

First series Woodsmans had the upper portion of the magazine unfinished.

Thanks for the link.

It's a pre-WWII "Sport Model" with a 4 1/2" barrel based on the info from that site.

I don't remember what the mainspring housing looked like, so I don't know if it's good for high velocity ammo or just standard velocity.

Anyone have any ideas of the $499 price is good? One mag, no box, clean gun.

Trebor, go to gunbroker.com and look what their going for. All i know is their more expensive than my Buckmark. That price my be a very good price being a Colt.
