Been reloading rifles for years without getting into the science of it, probably was better off as the game never noticed the difference, but anyway since I got me a new fangled 6.5 Creed I've started getting into it.
Couple of questions:
If I'm seating to a depth based on ogive to land length with a Hornady lock and load bushing and a set of calipers what possible advantage is there to a micrometer seater die?
If I get a neck sizer only die does one size bushing do it or do I need different sizes for different bullets? :scrutiny:

I would suggest you FL size. After 3-5 firings you will need to be FL sized.

You did not say what type of gun. Do you have to fit a magazine, if so your OAL will be limited.

Bushing size is bases on wall thickness. If your going to turn the necks all the same size you can get by with 1. I think I ended up with 7-8.

Unless you buy top end brass or turn necks your best off setting neck tension with mandrels or guage pins. They are cheaper and have more options.

Micrometer seating dies are just for convenience and add no accuracy. The quality of the die is more important.

Full length size, just don't push the shoulders way back .003 is gracious plenty.

Micrometer seaters are real nice for easily dialing to match different bullet/loads and tweaking seating depth.

Get a FL bushing style die set from Redding or RCBS and dies won't be the reason you missed, or shot a bad group.

I am using Wilson threaded FL bushing style sizers and Wilson hand seaters with the micrometer top. Keeps my arbor press happy.
