I have a NICE 1968-production Colt Python--six-inch, blue--that is probably in 98-99% condition...someone at work has approached me about possibly buying the gun. It is pretty much "Cherry", with the box, paperwork, facory test target AND original grips, as well as a coupla' sets of "Aftermarket" grips--one Rogers, one Hogue "Goodyear's"--what would be a "FAIR" price to extract from this individual for this piece???...Thanks....mikey357

Gunsamerica is showing them ranging from $800 to $1000+ in the shape you describe.

I wouldn't take less than $800.

Apparently, Pythons made in the 60's and earlier are bringing higher prices, due to the belief that they were better made guns back then.

$800 to $1000 seems to be the going rate nationally for a good Python, and I'd put a minty '68 vintage at the higher end of that range.

The extra grips add nothing to the price for most buyers but the original Colt factory grips DO.

The 60's vintage Pythons are works of art. Colt still had people who knew how to hand fit and polish in those days. I'd love to have the ones I sold years ago back.

Along with the Diamondbacks and a passle of other guns I sold..... :(

I'd go as high as $850 or $900 for it. That saidâ„¢, there are people who'd pay $1,000 or $1,100 for it. Plastic and rubber after-market grips don't add value.

That's true, but Colt still managed to turn out scrap iron Pythons in those days, too.
