I presently carry an LCP in 380 or a Sig P250 in either 9mm or sometimes 45ACP. All are DA only. What I'm looking for is something small, like the XDs but has both DA/SA capabilities.

I would like something in either 9mm or 45ACP. The 380 is small, but I carry it in my pocket and it disappears. Now that I've lost some weight, an IWB or OWB would be preferred. What do all of you recommend?

It has to be small, similar to the XDs, which I already mentioned, yet must pack some punch and have a decent round count. I would also like it to have the SA capability.

Ideas?

If you'r set on DA/SA try the Berreta px4 storm sub compact. Small, 13rnd mags and da/sa.

Check out the 3913 smith and wesson, or the cheifs special 3rd gen for an even smaller gun. They are da/sa

Small SA/DA in a single stack format with caliber choice in 9mm, .357sig or .40S&W and you have described a Sig P239. In the .40 and .357 variants, both use the same magazine and just require a barrel swap.
Great versatility, quality manufacturing and a comforting weapon to carry.

The Bersa Thunder 9-series is an often-overlooked decent value as well. I have the .380 version, and can't say enough good things about how well it points, runs, and carries. The "UC" model has a 3.5-inch barrel, and holds 13 rounds in its double-stack magazine. Other versions are available in .40 and .45 calibers, with respectively-lower capacity counts.

Believe it or not, carrying on the waist opens up a lot of options, and they need not be as small as you think. I've carried my Ruger P95 all day with nary an issue; it's worn in an IWB holster tucked between the belt and pants. This is known as "inside-the-belt" carry (ITB), and makes for a good compromise between the two other methods. The belt pulls the gun/holster in close, smoothing the profile, but it does require as long a concealing cover garment as traditional OWB-carry would.

All good replies. I am doing a lot of research as there are quite a few options. The Kahrs come up a lot. I'll be looking into them very seriously.

Weight, concealability are big factors too. Thanks for some great choices.
