H&R Model 175 Springfield Stalker

mjsoftball2002, I found the rifle in the 1980 Edition of Gun Digest. It's listed as the:
H & R Model 175 Springfield Stalker
Caliber: 45 or 58
Barrel: 28" round
Weight: 7.5 - 8 lbs. Length: 43" overall
Stock: American Walnut
Sights: Blade front, rear open adj. for w. & e.
Features: Action similiar to Civil War Springfield. Supplied with hardwood ramrod and nipple wrench. Blue-black finish.
Price: $210

There was also a "Model 175 Deluxe" listed as being the same as the standard model except has hand checkered p.g. and fore-end, better wood, hand-polished American walnut stock.
Price: $350

The Gun Digest prices are usually manufacturer's list prices. My opinion about the value of one of these standard models in the condition like your Dad's could be as much as somewhere between $250 - $300, but this really depends on the buyer, selling venue and the particulars of the gun.
