NEF Pardner re-barrel??

I recently received a NEF Pardner in 12ga that has some issues. The shotgun was my brother's and he pulled some boneheaded crap with it. First, he hacksawed the barrel at just under 19 inches, and if that wasn't bad enough, a couple inches behind the crappy muzzle, he took a Black and Decker to it thinking he was working at Magna-port........
Needless to say, I really have no use for this kind of a setup.
Questions I have are:

a) will another NEF/H&R barrel (I'm, thinking 20ga...) fit without any issues?
b) can a "pardner" shotgun function with a "handi" rifle barrel?

Unless it has some sentimental value its probably not worth the money/time its going to take to repair it.

if anything keep it as a home defense gun.

Thanks for the quick reply. After posting I found the CS page at H&R/NEF's site.
The SB1 "Pardner" cannot receive rifle barrels. The SB2 "Handi" can get all sorts of barrels. H&R states they are factory fit only, and only on post-87 guns with a "N" or "H" serial prefix.

My gun can go in for a barrel swap for a shotgun tube, but no rifle tube, as its an SB1.
The tube swap is listed as $42, but since I hunt paper and steel more than birds and critters, and I have a switch barrel Mossberg, it'll prolly sit stashed in the closet with a couple of #2 shot 3" shells masking taped to the side as is as a last ditch home defense gun.......
