Picked up a Springfield Omega 10mm, blue, 6" barrel National Match today that is ANIB. Were there any "issues" with these guns? Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, I assume it will be fairly accurate.

Not familiar with the Omega but 10mm is a fantastic caliber! I have a S&W 1076 pistol and 610 revolver, both in 10mm. And would love to pick up a 1911.

I love the 10mm auto cartridge. I was able to purchase the first Colt Delta Elite that hit my area in the mid 80's and followed that up with a new SS Delta Elite last year. I have fired over 8000 rounds, both medium and heavy loads in my older blued model without a single problem. I did replace the recoil springs at 3000 rounds. Haven't fired my new SS model yet. :)

They were self destructing in short order.

The whole top end is proprietary and parts may be impossible to find.

Contact SA tell them what you have and ask about support.

I'll probably shoot it until it explodes (killing shooters on either side of me because it is a 10mm afterall) and then if I can't find parts I'll sell it on Gun Broker as being "mint" and recoup my money. I actually spoke to a gunsmith today that used to specialize in 1911s, he said this particular gun was actually quite well made and didn't have any major problems that he could remember. He also indicated parts should be available. We'll see, it probably won't see much range time anyway.

The Omega top end was made/designed by a german gentleman who still makes pistols. However, SA and the guy had a huge falling out, hence the discontinuation of the Omega. However however, SA sold these pistols with a lifetime warranty. If there are any issues with the pistol, they will repair or replace.

I believe at the time the Omega multi caliber slide system was manufactured by the Peters Stahl Company in Germany. It seems that in 1986, another company called PSW-Vertiebsgesellschaft-Wicke bought up Peters Stahl and continued to produce the Omega slide conversion as well as complete pistols. Then in 2003 PSW sold the Peters Stahl Company and began to make their own version of the Omega as the Euro Multi-caliber M1911 PSW Model 2007. I'm not sure if they're still making pistols, slide units, or other components, but you might try contacting them if Springfield Armory can't help you with spare parts.

Thanks for all the input. Had a chance to shoot the gun this past Saturday, what a tack driver. I doubt the gun will ever see many rounds, it's just kind of cool to own.
