yeah, I think you made a mistake.. leastways half mistake
Because you got what somebody else said you ought to, instead of what you wanted. None of which has anything to do with most of the pro/con reasons you are most likely to hear.
I happen to be a big fan of S&Ws, and even though I don't like the trend they have been on ever since "Safe-T-Hammer" bought the name, I think they are one of the top revolver makers in the world still, which Charter and Taurus are not, no matter how much volume Taurus sells, but they both do some real nice specific models.
It's your hand, her hand, and his-n-hers money, not mine, or Mrs. X, or Mr Z.
so... my opinion really don't count, and no reason it should
You are not ever going to quite get over thinking you should have done the Taurus 85 and the Charter 44 special
(The 85 being a truly fine snubbie IMO, prior comments notwithstanding, and I myself have no opinion to state on the Charter 44sp either way; none of which really should much matter all that much to you; plenty of shooters own and enjoy both/either).
S&W 642/637 plenty to love, and no shortage of folks to love 'em for what they are, and for very good reasons.
The wife had her reasons, respect that.
The 642 was her pick, so it's the right pick for her; if you picked the right woman to be your partner, don't 2nd guess that; 50/50 ain't a bad batting average. Good partners are a lot rarer than good guns, you are already way ahead of the curve, at least two out of three in this inning.
You just might yet learn to love that 637, but if you don't, they ain't a bit hard to sell or trade.
next time, make certain she gets the gun she wants, and you get the gun you want
that.... priceless, VISA or no VISA
(and cheaper than 4000 rounds of centerfire ammo !)
