I took a new Henry lever gun chambered in .327 Federal Magnum to the range today for initial break in and to sight a rd optic and to test a couple of loads. The gun was broken down and cleaned prior to use.

I shot 150 rounds. 50 of factory Federal Am Eagle 100gr, 50 Factory Federal Am Eagle 85gr and 50 rounds of hand loaded H&R Magnum 95gr, with a variety of loads from mild to mid (felt like I was shooting a .22 compared to the factory loads). I had three ftf from both factory and my hand loads.

First time it happened was with one of my reloads which I then chambered manually and it fired as it should. After a series of rounds I then had a factory round ftf and towards the end of my session another reload. The remainder of the fired rounds are showing deep consistent strikes.

The top two are unfired, and show light strikes, the bottom case looks like the rest of the fired cases.

This is my first Henry, I do have some Marlin rifles among others but this is the first time I’ve had a light striking gun of any type. My initial thoughts are to run several hundred more rounds through it to see if it resolves but I am wondering if anyone else has had the same problem or any other suggestions going forward.

I've got the H012 in .41 mag and .327. Never had a light strike with either one. All reloads with CCI, Winchester, & Remington primers.

I have one of their 327's which had to go back due to a bad chamber (cases were splitting). They quickly fixed it and have been happy since then. I mention it as it may be a chamber issue? I would check/clean that well.

On the handloads I would wonder if the primers were seated deeply enough, but as you also had a factory round do the same thing that makes it a bit more confusing.

Do you have a hammer extension on the hammer? I have never had it happen but have read that the extra mass of those may do wonky things at times.

Their 327 is a great rifle in an excellent chambering in my mind. Hope you run the issue to ground soon.

Sometimes the different brands of primers will look like a light strike due to the hardness of the primer cup.

Thanks will definitely clean again and will inspect the chamber

I hand seat my primers and have some years of experience lol but yes initially blamed myself until I had a factory round fail, No hammer extension on this one yet (I do use them on Marlins)
