most cracks in the butt stock at the reciever are due to the wood shrinking and becomming a little loose, then firing the gun. and that will cause cracks, as the gun recoils it slams into the wood. i check and tighten all the butts stocks on my two piece stocked guns every two years if needed. eastbank.

That and over tightening the bolt that holds it in the first place.

Cooldill- Roger that. But to me, a light is kind of important on any defensive firearm. This is due to the fact that it is dark about 50% of the time, but bad things disproportionately tend to happen during that time. Not being able to ID your target is a significant tactical disadvantage, not to mention a potentially serious liability if the wrong target is engaged. In that scenario, the cost/ability to have a light will seem trivial with 20-20 hindsight. Also its difficult to use a hand-held light in concert with any firearm, extremely difficult when that firearm is anything but a handgun. Thus, my endorsement of a firearm that lends itself to use of a mounted light. Just my 2 cents brother.

Yeah I agree. A light is important, and maybe a few extra shells on the gun but that is all thanks. :)

Visited the Ithaca plant in 2014. I'm a retired toolmaker so I know my way around a machine shop. Lots of NC equipment. Employees with a good attitude. Product upsized to fire 3" shells. Some product improvement as well IMO. Outstanding wood available. Yep, I'm a bit partial to Ithaca's. I think the new product is better.
