Senator Jason Crowell (R-Cape Girardeau) has introduced SB 217, which repeals the ability of cities and counties to ban open carry of firearms. At the moment, concealed carriers face the possibility of arrest for an accidental exposure of their firearms in certain urban areas. Passage of this bill will remove that possibility, and make Missouri a full "open carry" state.
Regardless of your opinions on the tactical superiority or inferiority of open carry, I think most people would agree that a level playing field of no local firearms restrictions to memorize, only state, is only a good thing, from both a legal and political perspective.

Missouri residents, please contact your Senators and ask that they push forward this bill. Non-Missouri residents can also help by contacting the Senate leadership from a tourist perspective.
