Last week I glommed a new private series K31 at an on-line auction. At the same auction I also won an Enfield No4 with a "no drill" scope mount. Both arrived at my FFL today and I got a chance to look them over before they went into his safe.

I've always wondered how a scoped no4 would shoot, but didn't want to drill any of my No4's. Not sure how well the B-Square no-drill mount works, but I'll soon be finding out.

The bore was spectacular and the auction description seemed right on the money.

Description advised ...

British No. 4 MK I Bolt Action Rifle, #63599, .303 cal., 25'' barrel, dark phosphate finish, European walnut stock and brass buttplate. Rifle has been fitted with B-square scope mounted rings. Condition is very good. Action is crisp, bore is fine. Lightly import marked.

Beautiful rifle, and excellent photos.

I have a similar #4 which I bought in NEW condition, and with no visible import marks.... it's dated 1955 from Fazakerly, and serial number is 228XX.

I had a scope mount much like yours on it for a while, but really prefer aperture sights on the #4. Soooo.....at considerable cost, I found a Parker-Hale #5C match sight, and it now lives on my Limey #4.

(I named the rifle....unheard-of for me....it's "Miz Liz". The name is in tribute to Elizabeth Hurley, another FINE-looking Brit.)

My "affair" with #4 Rifles goes back to the '50s in Canada, including Army service there. I've LONG wanted a good Long Branch (Canadian) #4, and finally found an as-new example in a Reno gunshop a couple years ago. Now I have TWO lovely #4Rifles, and truly enjoy having them. (Yes, I think the #4 is a fine-looking rifle.... if y'all disagree, well, different strokes, right?

Should anyone run across Long Branch #85L7408, reward offered....it was the first #4 I was issued, back in 1958 at Camp Dundurn, Saskatchewan.

Good thing that rifles aren't jealous!

I found that type of mount is too thin where the slots are cut; so pressing the top of the scope bell will make the elevation adjustment go up and down, and your zero goes up and down with it.

It's also way too high to get a good cheek weld.

Thanks, Bruce

I have several "unissued" No4's, including a 1955 Fazakerley myself...has a "UF" prefix serial number and is unfired since removed from the mummy wrap.

I've got several PH and AG Parker sights for my No4's , but have not installed them.

How does yours shoot with the PH sight?

I'll give it a try and report back with the results.

Also will get some kind of cheek riser for it.

I finally picked up my Scoped Enfield and was able to give it a good going over. Rifle is in very good condition and the bore is spectacular. All matching. I'm not sure about the stock. It looks a little better than it does in the pictures, but it is different than my other No.4's.

I'll mount a scope on it and see how it shoots.
