Thanks to Midway's excellent free shipping and clearance sale on Lehigh Defense bullets, I have 100 of these .451" 190gr. XD's to play with. I'm thinking since the loads are not as brutal as +P+ JHP's, good ol' Big Ugly, the S&W 1917, might be a good candidate for keeping those rounds safe at night.

For the powders I have on-hand, LGH's loading data looks like this:
Hodgdon HS-6 Start: 8.2 @ 885fps -> Max: 8.7 @ 970
Unique Start: 6.0 @ 930fps -> Max: 6.5 @ 980fps
Accurate No.5 Start: 7.4 @ 820fps -> Max: 8.0 @ 900fps
True Blue Start: 7.1 @ 915fps -> Max: 7.6 @ 975fps

It looks like True Blue and HS-6 are the speed champs but No.5 and True Blue are the middle-of-the-dark champs thanks to be some good flash suppression. I'm not going anywhere near Max since these are most likely to be used, if needed, at end of the hallway distances. I'm also not real concerned about over-penetration but these XD's are "supposed" to be better about not passing through solid steel and concrete than the XP's.

Has anybody ever tried the LGH 190's in a .45ACP or .45AR? I'm leaning towards using the ACP cases this time around since the bullet is meant for an auto-loader. Mixing up rounds seems pretty unlikely. If I try them in an auto, it'll be a Springfield Ultra Carry and I have no doubts it can handle +P pressure, if needed. Curious to know what others have done with this bullet (Note: this is NOT the 120gr. used by Underwood, it is the 190gr.).
