So a couple weeks ago my boss's brother decided that he needed an AR-15. So I looked over PSA's web site and found the cheapest lower and upper with lower parts kit.

Well just before he placed the order I had him spend just under $50.00 more and get a different upper that had a few reviews where the cheapest one did not have any reviews.

So this last week every thing finally showed up.

So last night and this morning I started assembling the lower. Keep in mind that this is my first, I have never assembled an AR lower before. All my tools say Snap On, as in their not gun smithing tools. I did not have a vise or the blocks that a lot of people have.

I watched a 30 minute video on You Tube and basically followed along. And all together it took me about the same amount of time.

After I finished it, I swabbed the barrel and bolt, then lubed the bolt. I took it out side and put 30 rounds through it and no issues. Every thing went perfect. I took the rear flip up sight of my own rifle, slid it in, and at 25ish yards, I was right on the money.

All in all I am pretty happy with the whole deal. Fit was good and it's a really nice looking rifle and shoots very well. The trigger is a little heavy, but it's what I would expect for the money paid for every thing.

I honestly can't wait to order a few of my own. I have a AR-10 lower already, can't wait to get the upper with the parts kit. 08d6efcf4bf6192a7302601e7e82736e.jpg 4912837e952de94b739b21ffa6227ca0.jpg

I built my PSA AR a few years ago. I used a blemished premium rifle kit & blemished lower & it has been fine. If you want a nicer trigger PSA sells a enhanced polished fire control group (it is basically just a trigger group that has been polished & coated) on their site for $29.99. I recently installed one in my rifle. I haven't made it back to shoot it since I put it in but the pull feels much smoother & somewhat lighter since I put it in. I've got to get it out & shoot it.

Those triggers are awesome. I actually like them better than some 2 stage triggers I have. Very predictable let off.

I love my PSA build.
PSA Stealth lower
PSA LPK
PSA Freedom mid 5.56 upper
Magpul MOE forend (changed from the standard A2) and grip
Magpul MBUS, no longer have the Aimpoint, just irons now

Good job. The fun ...and sometimes aggravation really starts when you start putting on your own barrels and ff handguards. My advice us to squirrel away a couple lowers while they are dirt cheap WAY before next November..

Is that a real Snap on toolbox?

If it is, it's an older one. Old style key lock and the logo is in the wrong place. New logo, old style lock.

Irrelevant.

Nice looking rifle. Is that shot at 25 yards off hand?
I used a PSA basic LPK for my pistol build. It gets addicting, especially when you start getting into some more advanced take down and build up's, like swapping barrels, building BCG's from bits and pieces, etc. I started out with a complete lower and a complete upper, punned the two together and called it done. Since then I've built up from stripped lowers, stripped uppers, done barrel and gas system changes, free floated hand guards.

I've got a BCM upper kit coming in the mail, to sport a free float tube and an AR-Stoner 10.5" medium weight barrel, carbine gas system and 10.5" muzzle break for a XM-177 inspired build.

I'm also going to start budgeting for a .300 BO upper, .450 Bushmaster upper, 9mm upper, Form 1 SBR for my pistol, and some more homework on suppressors.

Meanwhile, my wife just wished I had bought an AK from the start. :D

It is a real snap on box. It's only about a year old. The guy had it on his truck and it was about a perfect size to fit in the space I had.

The shooting is bulk reloads that I make and 25-30 yards kneeling down with a rest. I am a horrible shot with one of those and iron sights.

What series box? I've got a classic 54" box (kra series) and a split top roll cab (krsc series).

The Snap on guy loves us at our shop. A coworker has an epic series that's just ridiculously big. Box, top hutch and dual side lockers.

Sorry for the OT derail, just one of my other interests.

I'm thinking it may be a Heritage series. I think those still use that style lock. And at that width, I believe it's either a Heritage series or one of the mobile floor boxes.

I'm kind of a Snap on geek, my wife hates that more than my steady flow of AR parts in the mail.
:)

How do you like the stainless barrel?

That looks like the rifle kit I have. I have not put it together yet, but the upper appeared to be well built.

I was thinking about their kit with the magpul furniture, but I need another AR like I need a hole in the head.

Built my PSA gun for less than $500. Added a extended latch charging handle and ambi-safety from PSA for $30.If you wait for their sales, you can get some bargins! And customer service and shipping has been great.
The upper was from the Freedom line and the barrel is melonited and the lower was a blem Magpul MOE.Just put a picatinny quad rail on from Amazon for $55 including the tool.
Still have not shot it yet but from all accounts it should be fine.
