Good weapon, but it has a very long double-action trigger pull.

Go over to www.rugerforum.com and you will see several threads dedicated to pro's and con's of the new P345. Those that have good ones love 'em. Some have some feeding and extracting problems.
I'm holding off for a little while till some of the problems are worked out. But it fits my hand very well.

I just got mine about a week ago and have put about 150 rnds thru it of various handloads, and factory fmj and HP's. I did have to drift the front sight over a bit as it wasn't centered and the gun was shooting left a good bit at 12 yds. After the sight was centered, it shot exactly to point of aim. On the first mag I had one fail to return to battery using Remington HP's. After that I had no problems at all and the gun shot very nicely and was very accurate.
Wanted a carry gun CCW lighter than my gov't model Colts. Liked the Ruger 345 grip. First Ruger Centerfire I've ever owned. Had a couple of FTF DUE TO LIGHT 180 SWC loads, second magazine full of ammo through gun after purchase. No miscues since.
Sights very good, had to drift mine (rear sight) to the right to move POI to match POA.
Accuracy very good. Trigger decent even though DA is long. SA trigger good.
For a 400 dollar DA Auto I like it a lot. A whole lot. 3 trips to the range and several hundred rounds of ammo later--its a keeper. Now I need to order some leather or Kydex OWB AND IWB. Plus a couple extra magazines.

Feels like a rattle-trap to me, and shoots like one, too. I got passable groupings at 7yds with one. Thought maybe it was me or an off-day. So I went back and shot it 3 more times to be sure. Nope. Same story. Very disappointing...I thought THIS would finally be the Ruger that I've been waiting for all these years...the one that I would finally add to my collection. I'm done with Rugers.
Can't hold a candle to my Sig P220 or P220ST for DA/SA. So, for .45's, just gonna buy more Sigs, HK's, 1911's and collectibles.

There are a lot of mixed reviews on this gun. I have had one for a little over a month and have put 500+ rounds through. Not a single malfunction of any sort. I have heard of quite a few FTF's especially with JHP ammo from other guys on the Ruger Forum, but mine seems fine. It seems they are either very good or not, depends who you talk to. I am certainly not vouching for the model as a whole, just mine. Very comfortable to shoot, more accurate then I am and (so far) reliable with all types of ammo. I would consider carrying mine or for home defense. I like it a lot. However, I will feel better with a few more rounds through it without incident. JMHO!

its a good gun for the anti 2a groups to push more laws requiring devices like magazine disconnect,loaded chamber indicator and built in locks.
ruger ditched the P97 for this. some of the improvements nice. sounds like production is not real consistant or quality control. some get good one some get bad one. hate to know what you get when magazine disconnect jams or breaks or magazine is out of spec or not seated enough to disable the disconnect.

I have a P345, blued, manual safety. First 100 rounds - 230 gr FMJ at 25 yards. Shoots softly for a 45 IMHO. Next 100 rounds - Remington 230 gr JHP. Not a single malfunction. Went through another 200+ rounds after that in both JHP and FMJ and did not have a single malfunction. I feel confident in this gun. A friend, better shot than me, prints 8 out of 8 at steel plates mag after mag after mag; I miss 2 out of 8 typically from 25 yards at 6 in steel target. I find accuracy quite acceptable. I read the rugerforum opinions and did see a lot of mixed opinions. Perhaps, it is the lower serial numbers that had issues - mine is in 15000s. I also think that a lot of issues can be resolved by tending to the mags as I see some roughness on the feeding lips on mine that I took off.
Overall, I like P345 a lot and recommend it to others. I wish they make a .357 sig barrel available for it.

I was fairly excited when I saw this one in the magazines and in person. Finally got to shot it about a month ago and my enthusiasm waned quickly. The grip is all wrong for my hand, the DA seemed awfully long (did we shoot the same one Ala Dan?), the SA was ok. Accuracy was acceptable, but not spectacular, reliability was 100%.
My overall impression was that it is a better value than most DA/SA semi-auto's in .45, especially when compared to Sigs and the HK line. It competes well with the 4507 from SW. The light rail is a nice touch if you are into that sort of thing. It just didn't really impress me and served to remind me of why I don't like DA/SA pistols. It may work well for you though.

rough looking barrel
My 345 have one of the roughest barrels I have ever seen, I know it should not look like a hammered barrel but this is very poorly finished! Has anyone else having this problem? Or should I send it in to Ruger? It groups 3” at 50 feet with 200 gr. Lead SWC under 4.5 grains of 700X, my Pointman7 shoots 10 shots touching with the same load.

If it shoots that good, don't touch it. That's damn good for any .45 caliber pistol.

I bought mine used for $350. I've put over 1500 rounds through it using factory ball, Remington UMC and WWB JHP's, Federal Hydroshocks, and Remington Golden Sabers as well as my own handloads in round nosed lead and light 180gr SWC's. My P345 has never had a bobble or a malfunction.
Since I got this gun I have quit carrying my XD45 and my 1911's. My P345 is now my go to .45 of choice. The only changes that I have made to it was to install a 19lb hammer spring from Wolff to lighten the trigger pull a little bit.
Here is one of my targets shot rapid fire, 2 handed at 15 yards. I'm not the greatest shot in the world, but based on my experience with this pistol, if someone were to tell me that a P345 wasn't accurate, I would recommend that they look in the nearest mirror for what I think would be the most likely source for the inconsistency.

I have owned a P345 for the past year and am very pleased with it. This pistol is fairly accurate for a duty type firearm and has digested every type of ammo fed thru it both various kinds of reloads and factory hollowpoints. The only problem with this pistol is the magazine safety, and that's fairly easy to take care of that problem. The P345 has replaced my 1911A1 as my house gun.
