I just received my new remmie.

I'm glad with my "classical" 1858 Army, but 8" is way long.
3" or less snubnose are fun, but I always feel good with 5", they look well, are well balanced, being an old Colt S.A or a modern S&W 625.
(I'm only a paper puncher)

Last week, I found an advise about something looking interesting. Remmie and 5.5" and Pietta, all those words together made me curious. Few searchs later, I had some pics from Pietta and find that one of my usual BP retailer have one on shelf... now it's mine

Here is, with his big brother.
Pietta, 1858 Stainless 1858, Sheriff. 5.5" barrel and checkered grips.

I will handload some

I hope to have time for range session this WE

I have one of the Pietta 1851 Navy Sheriff pistols from Cabela's and they are great, your going to like it a lot! Congrats

Yeah their real nice, mine is in traditional Blue & I'm in the works for some nice Faux Ivory to finish mine off.

Now I like how you are making your paper catridges, I'll have to get a few of my .45ACP's out & give that a try.

GREAT IDEA with the paper cartridges !

If you would, please walk me thru that, including the type of paper used.

Thanks !

I tell you what I sure do like the looks of the short remmy in stainless I laso like the looks of the long one in stainless. HERE IS MINE. Am trying to figure out what kind of rig to build for it. Maybe a butt forward design I dont know yet. But the 5.5 inch brl remmy is next on the list i think.

i love the knurled hand grips. very nice. are the loads in the pic for a convertion? what- cha doing their?

For those who are interested (if they don't already knows) there is a huge topic about paper carridge.
My own touch is using .45 auto brass as hull while manufacturing and transportation (not a kind of retro-conversion)
I only fold the paper bottom and glue with saliva, so it's quite fragile. But since I do it this way (no twist there) I didn't had any misfire and I had no need to pick before capping.

I use king size paper, regular is too short (wide enough, but length to short for diameter, will be perfect for 36ammo)

I use a 9.6x74R as mandrel, near perfect for diameter and tapper, don't roll paper too tight or it will be difficult to drive the bullet down.

Cut excess paper, roll on the mandrell

Glue and fold

when I miss slidding the bullet, I kept the bottom of the paper cartridge, I add the bullet when loading at he range.

I cast my own. I test one chamber and slug the barrel, just in case ...
All seem perfect, bullet > chamber > bore

for target use my load is hafnaf powder/semolina.

ready to go

At range
first target, 25m, one handed
1858_sheriff_1ere-cible_P1000836_cut_800.jpg

low and left except one flinch.

I didn't change my aim point, so 31 shots later
1858_sheriff_cible-total_P1000846_cut_800.jpg

definitively low and left, about 6"

I'm quite satisfied for a first run, without any preparation (only 2 days of dry firing) trigger is quite heavy and motionless letoff isn't possible.

Paper cartridges, work as usual, time consumming at home, pleasure at range !
Only need to clean chamber bottom before reloading.
All I got, look like

Despite weather I got a pleasant time.

Paper combustable cartridges

Pascalp, commendable for sure !!! Older days in my Remmie shooting I got some Salt Peter (Kno3) mixed a solution with water and soaked the paper in it and hung up to dry. I used that thin copy paper and wrapped it around a dowel.

I think your paper and tools are superior to mine but nitrating the paper with salt peter cause it to all burn up. Did the same with paper rifle cartridges for my Springfield blanks during re-enacting.....

Sold my Remmie, wish I hadn't.....:(

Pascalp,

Thanks, those pics help a LOT !

Cuate, how, exactly, did you do the salt peter mix and application?
