I finally replaced the butter knife-thin smooth grip panels that the birdshead Wrangler came with after viewing the post from Oninotaki about the Heritage improvements.

I bought the all-wooden Premium Manufacturing Group grips off of Amazon and they arrived really quickly. I had an issue with the threaded grip screw insert being wonky, so I placed a call to Bernie. I gave a brief explanation of the issue and a new set of grips was on its way in 3 minutes. (I offered to send the ones back but was told to keep them. I later e-mailed Bernie pics of the issue so they could show their parts supplier.)

The replacement panels arrived in a couple of days, and they popped on with a nice, snug fit.
They are a bit wider than the original grips which gives my mid-sized mitts a better purchase on the gun. I did take some 1000 grit wet-dry backed with a 1/2”x1/2” square block to round off the outer edge of the inside curve of the panels right over the trigger, rounding the squared off edges a tiny bit made the feel even better for me.

I took it out and was firing at 8 yards, which at the rather dark indoor range I frequent is about 3 yards too far to see well with these sights. The grips made holding during cocking easier than the smooth panels and I was able to pretty much keep everything in the black. The gun did not like the Norma Tac-22 one bit!

I think this adds a touch more class to this budget blaster, and a big thank you to PMG for coming through when I had an issue.

Stay safe.

Wow…that’s a solid cosmetic and functional upgrade. Wonder if those would fit a single 7 BH grip.

I don’t know offhand, but they seem to have a pretty wide selection so they may have them.

Stay safe.

Fine looking grips! They go very nicely with your Birdshead Ruger!

Now all you need is a crossdraw holster and you'll be all set to play the part of a high rolling gambler plying his trade
on the Mississippi!
