Hello!

I’ve had a Glock M22 for a few years and I’m just now thinking about getting involved with GSSF and maybe some other competitive shooting organizations. I have two questions.

First of all, I’m a cross-eyed shooter (left eye, right hand). Will someone please recommend a good stance or stances that I should try?

Also, what about ammo? What do you all think is the best .40 S&W ammo for:

1. personal defense?
2. range practice?
3. competitive match shooting?

Obviously I’m new to the sport so I’ll appreciate any wisdom you more experienced folks are willing to pass on. Thank you!

welcome....sorry i cant help you out as i myself am new to all of this and still trying take in as much information as i can.

Welcome. Proper your feet up on the barrel and rare back.

Someone with you combination of physical attributes will ride by soon enough and you'll get help.

Regarding ammo and training issue, the best button on the internet is up there ^ and is labelled "search." Tremendous help is available as your question is asked on a regular basis. As a quick answer to the ammo question, Wally World White Box is as good as it gets in bang for the buck.

Hello and welcome!

I carry Remington Golden Saber 165grn JHPs in my .40 cal pistols. For range use, I shoot the Winchester "white box" 165grn FMJ. Wal-Mart sells it in 100 round boxes for a good price. I would use this ammo for both practice and match shooting. If you really get into competition shooting, you'l almost have to get into reloading too.

As far as ammo for self-defense. Federal Hydra-Shok, Speer Gold Dot, and Remington Golden Saber are on top of the list. Both Cor-bon and Black Hills provide excellent loads. As far as range ammo goes, use anything your Glock likes. I prefer Speer Lawman myself.

Welcome to THR solscout,

Congratulations on your G22. I have a G22C so I'm sure you got yourself a very reliable firearm. As others have mentioned before, Winchester White Box from Wal-Mart is an excellent buy.

Glocks are known for their ability to eat anything you throw at them, so for a self-defense round you're probably gonna want to try several brands and styles to see which you and your Glock prefer.

And, if you didn't know, you can buy a seperate barrel in .357Sig that will drop right in your G22, that will give you a few more options as to ammo choices.

Safe Shooting,

Jubei

SolScout:

Welcome

this is called left eye dominant. my wife has this challenge and you need to just work with it. try different stances and go with what feels comfortable. In shooting lots of things affect how well you shoot right now just worry about grip, target picture, and sqeeze the trigger so you dont know when it will fire.

Ammo my favorite 155gr Gold Dots

Good Luck and now that you are on board start sharing with others and educate.
