New Stainless 22Sparrow Rifle video

Kenny, what will be the total weight of the new Sparrow upgrade with my original aluminum serialized tube? I'd guess around 5oz vs the 6.5oz of the all steel unit.:)
 
Didn't seem like that much of a difference to me. And I've heard MUCH quieter .22 silencers. Some make barely a click.

Some barely make a click when fired outdoors but sound louder with a steel shade covering (like many outdoor ranges have) and much louder when indoors.
 
Yeah, well, I doubt by "louder" you mean 114 decibels. I'd understand if it was a pop indoors, but it still sounded not much quieter than an unsilenced .22.
 
I suspect anthing at 114db wasnt with CCI standard ammo. If you know anything about 22 silencers you know the stainless Sparrow is about the best there is made. The much touted aac element cant be dipped for cleaning and it performs awefully on rifle platform. It seems to excell best on crappy cheap plinkers like the Walther P22:barf:
 
The video states they're using standard velocity ammo. I showed this video to a number of people and all of them were laughing. It's not much of a sales video if you still need hearing protection with a freaking .22. Nor when the $250 "upgrade" only gets you a 5Db or less noise reduction that can't be heard in the video. Most people are going to stick with the silencer that goes *click*, not the one that goes *POP!* and still leaves your ears ringing.
 
Well post up a vid of your favorite silencer, using military test specs and mic, and lessee how many DB it is. :) Until then... we're talking apples and oranges. Different video equipment has drastically different sound quality. I personally give props to Silencerco for posting these up, including competitors' equipment, all tested in the same way.

Obviously in person the subjective evaluation of "how quiet" something is can be quite different.
 
my original aluminum sparrow goes "click" when I'm outside. The SilencerCo tests are performed indoors in a small echoish chamber room where every .22 silencer goes "pop".:neener:
 
That's good to know, then. Those videos honestly paint the product in a bad light. For better presentation, I think that perhaps they should record a video of it being shot outdoors and keep those indoor videos for technical comparison. You need a presentation video to show what the product can really do, alongside the technical video that shows the nitty gritty.
