I have seen a bunch of ads in various gun mags for the new Surefire E2D Defender Flashlight.

It looks like my regular E2e Surefire, except it has a "scalloped" bezel and tailcap.

What do you think of this new Surefire?

Is it a gimmick or something worth owning?

 :D

Surefire for sure

Like all of their products it's really well designed. and if it's needed I am sure it would do the needed job. But like someone else pointed out it might do the job on you if you fell on it. And if just carried in pocket might start cutting through the pocket material in time. This is why I am staying with the Z2 Combat lite for my carry. My new M3 has the strike bezel so it's not a pocket carry lite.

It's neat looking but i certainly dont think its $30 better than the nearly identical and excellent executive.

30 bucks seems like a lot of money to spend on a funky looking bezel. But then again it IS surefire and i bet they can hardly keep the things in stock.

I had the chance to talk w/ G.Suarez about these lights with the strike bezel and he brought up a good point, namely, what's the point? There is nothing that strike bezel can do that a normal bezel can't, unless you're talking about Pain Compliance. PC is not a factor that the average non-leo citizen. If attacked, you don't worry about getting the badguy to comply with your demands because you are not obligated to try and save/spare his life.

Yea, the strike bezel will tear skin and make blood run, but the regular bezel will break bones just as easily and won't look nearly as 'mean' in the eyes of the TSA agent inspecting your luggage or Juror No. 3 sitting in the jury box wondering just what kind of rambo you are.

It's not the weapon that you wear....
