I just got the new SF digitally regulated, dual output L2 in. It is a pretty cool light because it gives you the best of both worlds. You half depress the tailcap and you get 15 Lumens or fully depress it and get 65 Lumens +. You can also partially rotate the tailcap and get the 15 Lumens or fully rotate it for a constant on 65 Lumens. The run time is listed at 90 Lumens, but if you were just using the 15 Lumens you would be looking at MUCH longer battery life. Another thing I thought was cool is the new lanyard that came with it. You can see in the one pic that the hook latch has been redesigned and must say that it is a lot better than the old one!

Here is the L2 with some other SureFires...

If you would like to see photos of the L2 next to any other SureFire, please email me size15s(at)ntlworld.com

The L2 I have is brighter than any of the KL4 bezels I have.
It's usefulness is in the low beam though.

Going convert

I have already converted my M2 with a KL3 Led head now I plan of getting a KL6 for my M3. I also converted both tail caps to Z48s.

Leave it to Size15s to always bring out the Surefire eye candy. What....no U2? :D

Thanks for the photo...thats what I wanted to see.

Yeah, don't you just hate it when all your SureFires don't fit into one bag?
It's a real problem. I need another bag.

(I'm serious, does anybody know of any bags or such that have velcro panels?
Perhaps they make smaller ones for blades or something?)

Al

They are quite heavy altogether... Quite a burden really. I need a shoulder strap for the SureFire carry bag,

Sweet!

Cost?

Also: is that just the L4 head stuck on a different body?

Thanks

Hi

I'm not quite sure what you are referring to...

Here are a few SureFires:
al-Eclasscollection.jpg

Left to Right:
A2
L4 with Z61 HABK Clickie TailCap
L2
L1
E2d (SHOT Show 2004 "PK" Special)
L1-PRT (I believe that's what it's called... Custom-made modified LED)
E2e-BK body with KL4 Bezel and Z52 LOTC
E2e-HA with KL4 Bezel

If I have not answered your question(s), please let me know.

Thanks

Al

What I meant is that the L2 head seems to be the same as the L4; or does the L2 head contain the circuitry that allows it to be dimmable?

Thanks

Ah!

As you should be able to see from the last photo I posted - although the L2 bezel looks similar to the KL4 bezel - it's shorter.
The KL4 contains the magic electronics required to regulate the output.

The L2's bezel is dumb. The electronics are contained in the "magic coffin" inside the body.
The L1 has the same magic coffin as the L2 but, while the L1 features a single double-sided PCB, the L2 features two double-sided PCB's - one for low beam regulation and one for the high beam.
Here is a working "cut-away" L1:

The Z62 Two-Stage pressure switch push button TailCap is the same for the A2, L1 and L2.

Al:

I understand that the tailswitch is two-stage for the low and high-output modes, but is it a clickie as well?

Thanks!
