I finally pulled the trigger on a Glock 29sf yesterday. I've always had an interest in the 10mm Auto and since I already own the Lee 4-Piece Carbide Die Set(.40/10mm) and a single-stage Lee press (which I've had laying around for some reason), I figured why not! My question to you all is, what kind of powder, bullets, and brass would yall recommend? Any specific loads you like? Any suggestions at all? Any no-no's? Keep in mind, I am a complete "noob" when it comes to reloading. Been shooting for about 9 years now and just now really picked up the interest in handloading so any info provided would be greatly appreciated!

I did some tests with HS-6, AA #9, Blue Dot, and HP-38 using 160gr Berry's Bullets. In my tests out of m S&W 1006, mid range loads with HP-38 were the most accurate. I was pushing some of the other bullets beyond what I could do with the regular Berry's so my accuracy loss could have to do with that. I've since switched to the Berry's Thick Plate bullets, but haven't loaded them in anything other than .40 yet, so I don't have much info beyond that. By the way, BlueDot, in my tests have poor accuracy. I like BlueDot in 357 Sig.

Speed is the goal with 10, otherwise I would own a 40sw. I avoid plated bullets, in general and especially with the 10. (Not impressed with their price point or limitations.)

Big charges of slow powder. Watch for pressure signs and bulging brass. I'm happy with the case support in my 29's factory barrel. I have used 800x, power pistol & blue dot. Blue dot makes some impressive concussive muzzle blasts. I'd compare it to the ugly blasts of a blow back action such as a hi point. 800x has giant flakes that meter just fine in a chargemaster. Power pistol would probably meter best of the three mentioned in a volumetric thrower.

Good luck finding your brass. Mine goes into the rafters at the club and bounces everywhere. I'd also recommend the Pearce grip extensions.

I like blue dot and AA7 for the 10mm. Welcome to reloading. There is a wealth of info for newby's in the sticky for new re-loaders. Brass is a bit hard to find for it. All I can usually find in town is the American Eagle factory stuff. No brass usually.

Lots of 10mm brass for sale on gunbroker.com. Look on the powder companies reloading data websites and that will tell you what kinds of powder they test and the performance of each.

Alliant, Hodgdon, Accurate Arms, Ramshot, IMR, etc,.....each has websites with free reloading data available.

If you plan on throwing charges, (highly suggested if loading bulk,) verses weighing each and every one, stick with the ball type powders.

I use the following,

135 - 150gr bullets AA-5
150 - 175gr bullets AA-7
175gr and up bullets AA-9

If you look through the data listed on Accurate's site you will see some cross overs with bullet weights in the powders. I usually try to keep the pressures in the mid range for my loads so I am not over working my cases or my gun. THe above post is correct in that if you want to load low you might as well shoot a 40, thats true but there is also no point in beating your gun up simply because you can.

I also agree that most of the plated stuff should be left alone as in most cases the 10mm works at pressures they are simply not suited to. Iknow plenty shoot cast lead and that is fine as well depending on what you want from your loads, but if your going for full potential 10mm loads use jacketed and be happy.

Pick the loads and powders based upon what gives you the best overall accuracy. I have found nothing to complain about with Accurate powders, well except they vary from time to time. I usually purchase a couple of pounds of the same lot which will carry me through plenty of rounds before needing to get more. Then I back off some and compare the new powder to the old lot to see where it his on velocity and go from there.

I throw all of my loads either loading from my single stage or my progressive. The ball powders flow like water and I get VERY consistent results with either.

Berry's thick plate are supposed to be able to be pushed pretty fast. Probably your cheapest bullet unless you are buying by the multiple thousands.

I like AA#7, 180gr. Precision Delta bullets. Starline's my favorite 10mm brass, but I use whatever I can get.

Thanks for the info, guys! Just the kind of info I was looking for! Gonna go with the AA#9 and some Blue Dot for the time-being. Seems to be what works best.

Lots of great advice so far. I, too, have gravitated towards the AA powders (7 and 9) for their good metering and excellent performance in the 10mm. As for bulk bullets, look at Montana Gold. They are a bit more than Berry's, but still not crippling, and they can stand anything you can dish out.

An aside: The first loads I made for 10mm were using Unique. They were very accurate, and based on the Speer data. Then I looked at the Hornady data, and saw that Hornaday's MAX was below Speer's START. I have no idea what the reason for the difference is, but since then I've steered clear of Unique in 10mm. Take that for what it's worth.

10mm was what finally pushed me to reload. I'm using AA7 and zero brand 180gn jacketed bullets. I've found zero bullets in 10mm to be cheaper than berrys and Montana gold, but you need to check frequently since you cannot buy on backorder when OOS.

I wasn't able to find any Zero bullets locally so I'm gonna go with Barry's for the first go around. Got some AA#7 already as well as the pearce grip extensions. Just need brass now!

By the way, I put 20 rounds of 155 gr Hornady XTP just for the hell of it last night and all I can say is "Wow!" Recoil was not much different than a. 40. Impressive pistol I got here!

Run a search on here for 10MM reloads. Several of us have posted data and performance numbers with various powders.

800X will get them moving pretty good in a full size pistol. Might not want to go that harshe in the G29. Power Pistol and Blue Dot are good powders too.

Welcome to reloading Enachos!

Like I've said in other 10mm threads, I don't personally load for the 10mm but a shooting buddy does and we talk about the loads.

Now that HS-7 is no longer available he finds Longshot to be the best all around powder for the 10mm. Yes it's loud bu tit's still the best. Other powders will also do a fairly good job like HS-6, AA#7 and for very hot loads AA#9.

I've used Berry's bullets with pretty good results, with WW231/HP-38/AA#2 for practice and AA#9/Power Pistol for service level loads. Brass will probably be thin on the ground, so go straight to Starline, or the retail web sites. The latter may have nickel for slightly more. Starline only sells nickel plated brass by the barrel, piece count in four digits if I recall well. Hornady 180 XTPs for carry loads.

I load for several different guns chambered in 10mm and use AA7 with good success. Most of my loads are low to middle of the road, I can't see any reason to put together something that hurts to shoot both me and the gun.

If I had a Glock 29, and wanted to shoot it a lot, I would get a 40 sw conversion barrel for it.

Once fired 40sw brass is stronger and cheaper than 10mm brass.

I would load long, 1.3", 180 or 200 gr, Lee factory crimp, and use 800X for the most power, Power Pistol for easy to meter and second most power, and 3N37 for most power with low flash and easy to meter.

I would get the heaviest recoil springs that I could.
I would work up loads until the brass landed 5 feet from me.
