Well I just could not help myself. The $$$ was right and this one is a winner. It is a 1990 MKII 1/2". It does not have the rib on the top of the slide but it does have a forged frame. No lines in the mag well. Nice Ring hammer and updated milled sights. I should be able to drop in Trijicons without having to mill the slide. :D The gun has a nice blue on it. I believe it has been refinished. The blue is consistent even though my poor pics do not show it. It is not up to par with the blue on my 1972 but it looks great.

First thing I did was pull the lanyard loop. Then out came the magazine disconnect. This lightened up the trigger a bit. I need to get a 26 lbs Wolff mainspring which will put it right were I want it. I took the old crappy plastic grips and chucked them. I temporary replaced them with some older french walnut grips which I had lying around. I will be putting Naviderix or Spegels on this one.

Here is how she looks. Pretty much as I took her out of the box.

You can clearly see the Star of David on the frame.

Here is a quick shot of the rollmark. It is a FN Herstal gun with a PW import mark. The mark is very light and if I choose to refinish it I will have it removed.

Here is a nice shot of the ring hammer.

Nice looking gun. Is that painted or blued? I had heard that most of the Israeli HP's were painted, but if that's a painted gun it's the nicest looking one I've ever seen.

It is blued...

Too cool.

I happened into one of those a bit back and though I wanted it dearly I ended up brokering a sale to an aquaintance instead.

These seem to be some of the best value Hi Powers around these days too.

Nice pickup.

I think that if you can inspect the gun and and pick it they are a great value. Online the variance might be too high. Some of these guns are pretty beat up. I think this one is a the the exception not the rule.

Wow.... nice looking piece you got there, I would love to get a hi power but they are out of my price range at this time.

Thanks. I looked over a lot of guns before picking this one. They are running anywhere from $389 + $10 Shipping and transfer to $489+.

The lower priced ones show more wear but in general they are in good shooting shape. If you are looking for one look for one with the MKIII sight cuts that way you can swap out the sights later if you want. Everything else can be replaced and refinished if need be.

Mag discconect is easy enough to take out if you have a set of punches.

Nice looking gun, Rellascout.

Now if I could just get past the hammer bite issue, the HP would go on my short list...

Does the ring hammer bite you?

I also believe the C&S commander style hammers do not bite either.

The other option is the Novak no bite hammer. I believe it only costs $65... :)

Just to let you know , your gun is a recent police IZI import and has been reblued, its not an original finish. I seen ones like yours forsale for around $450 a few months ago.

Thanks scoop. What part of the title new to me Isreali Hi Power did you not understand? Why did you feel the need to tell me what I already stated. I also stated that I believe the gun has been reblued. One has to ask did you even bothered to read the OP? LOL :)

Shot my IZI Police Hi power today. :) It was spot on. 100% malfunctions shooting 115gr and 124gr 9mm. One ragged hole at 7 and 10 yards. Point of aim=point of impact at this distance.

I am not a huge fan of the ambi safety. I am spoiled by my C&S extended... I might have to swap that out. I lucked into a deal on some old Uncle Mikes designed by Craig Spegel for $15... :)

Does the ring hammer bite you?

I haven't tried the ring hammer, nor specifically the C&S/Novak version. The spur hammer bit me by about half an inch, so my hopes are pretty low in that regard. But maybe one day I will get to fire a ring hammer version and see...
