Walked into my local gunshop yesterday to find a guy I know trying to trade in a heavy-barrel Savage in .308. The gun has an after-market stock, shaped rather like a McMillan, but in wood, with some nice stippling, and the action and barrel have been glass-bedded nicely. The factory trigger has also been replaced with a Canjar trigger - very nice!. Best part - the price was only $375! Needless to say, I jumped on it, and now have myself a nice Christmas present.
It has a crappy Tasco scope on it at the moment (as Tamara says, a "scope ring separation device"! ), but I'll replace that with some worthwhile glass as soon as the budget allows.
