I've been waiting about 9 months to get this gun and today it showed up out of nowhere. Winchester 1892 Deluxe rifle, 24" octagon barrel, palm swell pistol grip stock, and check out that Grade IV wood. Almost too pretty to shoot. Almost. In .357 Magnum. Just in time for the spring silhouette matches.

congrats that thing is gorgeous. are you going to shoot lead? will you add sling studs and swivels? let us know how it shoots. possible to put peep sight on it?

I have both jacketed and cast bullets to try. I doubt if most loads will be anywhere close to full 357 Mag. I think Marbles makes a tang sight that will fit around that darn safety but not sure if I have to remove the safety switch or not. I haven't thought about a sling. I know some leather guys that make slip-on slings for lever guns that don't need holes drilled, etc.

OldTex.....you suck. :) That is one beautiful rifle. How about a lead on the guys that make the slip on slings?

oltx: how did you order it? from your local gun shop? i've been eyeballing those rifles ever since Winchester started making rifles in SC. I have a SC-made Featherweight and it is one heck of a rifle. are the lever guns made in SC too?

wriggly, the sling guy I was thinking about is HERE.

And thomis, I just ordered it through my local dealer. He shopped it around at several of his vendors just looking for the first supplier that had one in stock. Like I said, it took about 9 months before one of those vendors found one. But this gun wasn't made in SC, it was made in Japan by Miroku. Unless I'm mistaken, Miroku now makes all the lever guns for both Winchester and Browning. I got a Browning BL-22 last year and that action feels as tight and slick as this one does. Both could use a little lightening of the trigger, though, but that's true of every lever gun I've ever bought.

Upstater, your link isn't working for me. I'm not that familiar with the Rossis but I hear a lot of talk about them lately.

Grmlin, it wasn't cheap. I started to say it was less than the list price shown on Winchester Repeating Arms site, but I don't see it listed there anymore. All they show right now is the carbine version. Funny, about a month ago all they showed was this Deluxe model. It was listed at around $1650 when it was there, iirc.

Thanks OldTex, That is one nice rifle, but at that price it will be the Rossi 92 for me I guess. Can't even find a used one in my area.
