Many of you are NRA members and have received emails alerting you to the latest attempts to extinguish your 2A rights. The details of the current attacks with links to you representatives are here:

http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?ID=4324

Gov. David Paterson reversed his decision to close the Reynolds Game Farm due to the collective outcry from hunters and pro-gun supporters as well as pressure from pending lawsuits. A difference can be made if you get involved. Please take a few minutes and contact your representatives if you haven't already and voice your opposition to the proposed bills. We all have a stake in the future. Not only for ourselves but for our children and their children.

Numerous Anti-Gun Bills Proposed in the Empire State!

Friday, January 23, 2009

In the New York State Legislature, anti-gun lawmakers have wasted no time introducing a number of bills. They include Assembly Bill 497, sponsored by State Assemblyman Sam Hoyt (D-144), which would study "safe and secure" storage methods for retailers, Assembly Bill 506, sponsored by State Assemblyman Brian Kavanagh (D-74), would initiate a "gun violence" prevention program in public schools carrying an anti-gun message to youngsters, Assembly Bill 555, sponsored by State Assemblyman Brian Kavanagh (D-74), would mandate storage methods for law-abiding gun owners, Assembly Bill 1326, sponsored by State Assemblyman Steve Englebright (D-04), would mandate handguns be equipped with technology which would prevent them from being operated by children, Assembly Bill 1093, sponsored by State Assemblywoman Amy Paulin (D-88), would impose new requirements on firearm retailers and require they obtain insurance to cover criminal acts committed after the legal sale of a firearm and Assembly Bill 1536, sponsored by State Assemblywoman Amy Paulin (D-88), would ban the private transfer of firearms.

Also introduced were Senate Bill 66, introduced by State Senator John Sampson (D-19), which would institute renewable handgun licenses statewide and Senate Bill 118, sponsored by State Senator John Sampson (D-19), which would establish a training requirement and proof of need to defend against imminent injury or death for pistol license applicants.

We will keep you informed as these bills are scheduled to be heard in committees, and we will be sure to keep you posted on any additional legislation affecting your right to keep and bear arms. Be sure to call your lawmakers today and respectfully tell them you OPPOSE the above-mentioned bills.

Please contact your State Assembly Member today at (518) 455-4100 and respectfully urge him or her to vote "NO" on these NRA-opposed measures. To find your Assembly Member, click here. It interesting - each and every one of the sponsors of the cited legislation has the letter "D" after their name... :scrutiny:

I particularly like proposed Assembly Bill 1093: "would impose new requirements on firearm retailers and require they obtain insurance to cover criminal acts committed after the legal sale of a firearm".

Imagine if all manufacturers were held to that. Imagine some varmint steals a car then goes on a high-speed joy ride and kills a family crossing the street. Why in the world would we hold the varmint responsible? The obvious and just course of action would be to sue GM. After all, they produced that product with the full knowledge that their vehicle's true purpose was to mow down people.

Equally bizarre is Senate Bill 118: "which would establish a training requirement and proof of need to defend against imminent injury or death for pistol license applicants."

Um, will a note from my coroner be acceptable?

I just can't seem to get my head around it. This society has become so upside down and backwards and there are fewer people every year who will stand up and say "this BS will not be tolerated anymore".
