I just picked up my Yugo M70 B1 that I ordered from classicarms. I think I want to refinish the wood furniture to get that classic, almost orange AK look. Has anyone ever re-finished their AK with that sort of finish? I'd love to find out what kind of product you used and see any pics. Come to think of it, I'd love to see pics of any AK that you have refinished yourself. I had good luck refinishing my WASR awhile back. I'll post my pics of that soon, but right now I need to head to the range to play with my new toy!

We do them, we use a blended stain to get the right color. The color is a 'honey maple' color with red added usually. At least that is the case for the Norincos with that color stocks.

Check AR-15.com, in the AK47 section.there's a sticky on re-finishing that's pretty informative.I believe they recommend ,as kingjoey said, blending stains from Birchwood-casey. Also, i think the Yugos are teak rather than the laminated crap-wood used on may AK's, and may stain, and turn out differently than what you're looking for, but i'm just guessing.
I recently did a half-assed refinish job on some Romy wood using tung oil, and it came out looking pretty good, and not much different than the wood on my Lancaster that came in "russian red ".
