Here is my newest addition to the family,Bushmaster 20" V-match.

This will be used for varment hunting.

how stable is the rail that attaches to the fixed carry handle?

is it equal to, lesser than, or greater than having a rail mounted to a flattop?

The rail keeps it zero, had to use a Delta cheek rest,with a flat top upper one not needed.

Other than that,it has worked out great,my other AR is a M4gery with a flat top and Aimpoint.

i'm sure this next one is a dumb question, but i've used up all my working brain cells this week....
if you had a flattop, would the front sight get in the way of the scope?
would the scope even have enough clearance without the carry handle?
can anything be done to remove the front sight post entirely?

On a flat top,if you use standard scope rings, the FSB will be in the way,most folks use folding FSB or just cut it off.

Also you can use a mount to raise the scope up to clear the FSB.
