Why not print everyone’s address and the cars that they have registered to there name, as to help car thieves. Or even better everyone that has bought a gun from a dealer or anyone who has done paperwork to buy a gun. Why print the name and address of any sex offender when you can go after gun owners.

Here's another good person to contact about this incident. Try and express your displeasure with the Sheriff's actions politely to the AG. He seems to have made a genuine effort to implement and defend the CHL law properly.

I wonder how the man would like his address posted on street lamp poles on corners where crack dealers and prostitutes hang out. I'm sure his county has a bad side of town.

I also asked him if he would mind if his personal information being published for the world to see, along with his home address. He sort of stumbled, but said he wouldn't mind at all. So I informed him that it already had been published, and told him his home address so he knew I wasn't BS'ing him. He stumbled again, and said that was fine. I thanked him for his time and that was the end of it.

Hmm. There's an old phrase I always liked. "You play with fire, you get burned."

At least he had the courtesy to admit that his address was fair game when he was willing to hand out the personal information of the people he's supposed to protect.

Ipso fact, CCW holders are law abidding persons. Why he'd want to put them at risk... It's a betrayal of his job. Geesh.

I'm young, so enlighten me... Was there ever a time when the good guys were protected and the bad guys were fair game?

Yes Rev, there was a time but it was a very long time ago. Horse thieves were hung from the nearest tree at the time of apprehension. And a sheriff was for the most part a well respected individual in the community.

Concerning the thread topic, I don't think that the information should be allowed to be made public. It's kinda defeating the purpose don't you think ? Suzy Singlemom who can barely pay the rent likes the idea of the baddies NOT knowing who to victimize. DUH !

advertisers names as well!

please if you have the info, publish the names and home address & phone numbers of advertisers so we may call them & knock on their doors to complain about this abhorrent policy

Revenge

Seems the answer to this problem is to get the name address, DOB, phone number internet address etc of the publisher, editor and other management of the paper and post it on the internet.

Fair is fair... if they don't see any problem with publishing a citizen's personal data, then they surely can't object to their's being published.

FWIW

I talked to the sherrif

He was trying to tell me that burglars would avoid the houses listed,I tried to explain it's only a list of addresses that criminals would go to, to steal guns.
He did say that in the future he wouldn't give out addresses,he seemed kind of tired and overwhelmed...Man I would hate to have a Nation of gun owners angry at me!

(CNSNews.com) - A Second Amendment group says the sheriff in Shelby County, Ohio, had no right to release the home addresses of 87 people licensed to carry concealed pistols.

oooooohh maaaaaeye ggggawdddd

Has the NRA been notified about this? They will probably put pressure on the city to fire him. I'm going to see what I can do to push this myself. If you value your rights you should do the same.

I just went to http://www.capwiz.com/nra/mail/?id=9509&type=GV&state=OH and wrote Governor Taft of OH requesting he speak out for this Sheriff to step down. I ask you to do the same. Stand together and we are strong a nation.

Dear Governor Taft,

First off thank you for your time in reading my concerns. Myself and other gun owners are wondering if you have voiced your opinion about the actions taken by Sheriff Kevin P O'Leary, who illegally released the home addresses of 87 people licensed to carry concealed pistols. Myself and other concerned voters would like to know what steps are being taken to protect our safety from such abuses of power. We would hope also you would call for Sheriff O'Leary to step down from office as he has abused his powers against lawful citizens and in doing so endangered them. Below is the news stories on CNS for your review. I am urgently requesting a reply on your position on this matter Governor Taft. Thank you again and have a good day.

Please keep us up to date

I called the sherrif, left messages with jeffy beliar...or how ever you spell it,so keep us up to date,ok?
thanks,keep up the good work.

I hope it is illegal for names and addreses to be published in other CCW states like Texas. Is CCW public record in Texas? Or other states for that matter.
