I want to get another 1911. I already have an SA Loaded in 45. The two choices are:

Springfield Mil-Spec Stainless 45
-Cheaper; around $650
-Can customize
-Learn how to fit parts
-More GI style
-More expensive ammo

Springfield Range Officer 9MM
-More expensive; around $800
-Cheaper ammo
-Same features as my gun(beavertail etc.)

Which one would you purchase next?

Number two. It's a better gun, and you already have a nice 1911 in .45. I shoot my 9MM 1911 a lot. Same for my .38 Super with the 9MM barrel.

I would also probably go with a 9mm. as you already have a pretty nice M1911 in .45 ACP. If you want to use .38 Super in a 9mm. you will need to replace the ejector with one that's made for the longer case of the .38 Super. Once done the ejector will be able to handle both cartridges properly.

I don't have a 1911, but I do want one. I have several 9MM's but would never get a 9MM 1911. Just doesn't feel right. a 1911 should be in .45. And $800 for a 9MM that holds less rounds than pretty much ANY double stack new 9MM is a bit much.

RO. It's a better gun and cheaper ammo. If you shoot a lot, your ammo cost will eclipse your gun cost in short order. Buy the better gun. I e been wanting one myself actually.

Range Officer 9mm. I now have both 1911 in .45 and 9mm..

38 super sounds great. It came down to already set up to reload 9mm.

My Springfield Loaded 9mm is terrific, so I would go with the 9mm R.O., I also recommend the 9mm Wilson Enhanced Tactical Magazines.

I have the loaded .45 and it's my favorite gun, but a 9mm RO wouldn't be bad either. I just prefer my 1911s in .45 and my 9mm higher capacity.

Either way, great guns:)

though all the points concerning the second choice are valid,

Me,I?

I'd go with the Stainless, mostly because 1] it's stainless & 2] I like to customise.

IMX, the Wilson Combat 'BulletProof' line of parts in SS will fit with little or no fitting, and the advantage is that you needn't worry about scuffing the finish. even if you do nothing more than polish a few bits, it makes it a bit more 'yours'.

For another hundred or so, you can pick up a lightweight operator. If you like it. Slickguns.com has them on sale every month or so, you just need to set an alert and it will notify you, they had both guns you are interested in for $649 and 729 'if my memory serves me. They have been up several times this past month. Save yourself some cash.

I have seen the RO for 729 but could only find the 800 dollar sale with a quick click, if you take the time you will find it for the low 7's, just go to the store, and set an alert, they will notify you via email when it comes up again.
