=======

THE BASEBALL bat has become the weapon of choice for a growing number of criminals in New Hampshire. Consider:

In May, Mayor Bob Baines witnessed a fight involving a baseball bat outside a downtown nightclub.

On Aug. 11 Stephen Raymond was brutally struck down by an assailant swinging a red baseball bat.

On Sept. 4, men armed with baseball bats and an ax beat a McDonald's custodian in Meredith.

On Sept. 15, an 18-year-old was arrested on Maple Street carrying a knife, brass knuckles and a black-and-silver baseball bat.

In late September, Nashua police announced that youth gangs were increasingly using baseball bats as weapons. Two people were hit in the head with baseball bats in the city that month.

Also in September, a Manchester man reported that four people assaulted him; one had a broken ski pole and one a baseball bat.

On Oct. 4, two Manchester men robbed a pizza delivery man by threatening him with a baseball bat.

All this makes us wonder, will anti-gun types soon begin calling for the registration and regulation of ball bats? Will Louisville Slugger adopt the slogan, "Baseball bats don't kill people, people do"?

Of course, if any of the victims of these attacks had been carrying concealed firearms, the results might have been very different. But then, we can't have people walking around with guns under their belts, now can we?

That's easy enough to figure out. See who rented The Warriors in the past couple months.

Suspect was seen raising one eyebrow?;)
(See: Be Cool DVD):D

Rockstar Games, the wonderful and innovative crew that made Grand Theft Auto, just released a game based on the Warriors flick this week. By all accounts, it is awesome!

Anyway, slinging lumber has been a human pastime since God knows when...

A VPC spokesman responded to the story by citing the easy availablility of weapons in NH. "New Hampshire has the most lax wood laws in the nation" he said, "any child can walk into a forest and grab a stick of wood, and increasingly the wood has special features designed for criminals, like fingerprint resistant bark and assault branches designed to poke out eyes". National chains like Wal-Mart bear some of the responsibility too, he added, "A store like Wal-Mart can sell special assault sticks, they call them 'baseball bats', to children with no background check or license. A baseball bat has only one purpose: to beat things."

well this of course means that there will be a BBB (baseball bat ban)

right?

I mean, the Democrats cant let this go on any further...can they? think of the children

:neener:

Maybe NH is a little slow as baseball bats have been used to crack skulls every since there was a baseball bat.

next the lawsuits will be filed against "louisville slugger" then on to the lumber companies that supplied the wood.

Yup. The black ones will be labeled 'assault bats' and banned in Kali.
Biker

I've heard that in Kali, possession of a bat without a ball and glove in conjunction is already illegal.

At least, I've spoken with a couple people who claim to have been charged on grounds of "carrying a weapon" or some such because there was a bat in their car, and no other baseball gear.

If we outlaw baseball then no one will need bats. Then we can have bat buy back programs and bat amnesty days.

Better yet.
Serialize baseball bats. They must come with intergral locks and can not be purchased or possesed buy anyone under 21.

Actually, it's the same in many states, including TX... a "club" is an illegal weapon, and they'll bust you if they perceive it as being carried for the purpose of serving as a weapon.

Next thing you know, people will be carrying lug wrenches around in their cars...

or maybe ever screwdrivers and crescent wrenches and visegrips .... :uhoh:

No honest person needs such things - after all you can just call Triple A, right?

Yep, just like you can call the police to prevent a crime right before it's about to happen.

Worst beating case I ever saw, a woman beat the living He!! out of her live-in boyfriend with a 9 iron. The head on that club left some impressive wounds.

So, when you go about the Bat ban, better call it the Club ban, then we can add those evil golf clubs. After all, you can rent clubs at the course, just like you can rent a rifle at the range for target shooting. Right? :barf:

Kurush - Great post! LOL

45Badger - You're right. In New Hampshire it is legal to carry a handgun as long as it is exposed. Concealed carry requires a simple-to-get permit. Live Free or Die.

I think I am going to like this forum.
