I put a scope back on my Buffalo Classic since I just can't shoot worth a flip with irons. Went out to the range today to sight it in.

After 4 shots at 25 yards to get it on paper, I moved out to 100 yards. The bottom line is my first three shots. I wasn't happy at all with that scattergun group. I moved the scope up 8 clicks and got the top group.

By then I was getting kind of flinchy, but I wanted to try the Graf and Sons' loads I have. I put two in the green, but then really pulled the third to about three inches low.

I also fired three smokeless loads that I had in the box, just to get rid of them. They were busting cow patties at 250 yards quite nicely, but I got a scope cut on my nose the third shot. Nothing but BP from now on!

Very nice! The big smokepole must be a load of fun.

I have an H&R Classic Carbine that I built into a Stutzen and reamed to 454. Shoot mini Black Powder Magnums: 36 grs Old Eynsford, 2 grs IMR4227 (as an anti-fouling aid) and 380 gr pure lead slicks, paper patched to .459". They are a hoot. I have them down to 2.5" at 100 yards and I think if I back off compression slightly and seat them another 1/16" longer I can get that to 2".
