Court upholds woman's firearms permit denial

A New Jersey Appellate Court on Thursday upheld a Stafford Township decision denying a resident a firearms permit because her husband was considered a threat to public safety.

Superior Court Judges Francine I. Axelrad and Stephen Skillman upheld a decision by the Ocean County Superior Court denying an application by Barbara Knight to obtain the permit.

Stafford Police Chief Larry D. Parker originally turned down the request because of the background of the applicant's husband, Kenneth Knight.

Court documents noted that Kenneth Knight had two failed suicide attempts in 1987 and 2003. He also had a previous arrest for domestic violence where he struck his wife and damaged the house and a car with a sledgehammer, according to the decision.

Barbara Knight applied for the firearms permit so her 11-year-old son could hunt deer and pheasant.

"The applicant did not show she intended to, or was capable of, keeping her husband from any weapons purchased with her permit," the two judges concluded.

You need to read the article. She wasn't applying for a carry permit. This was in Nazi Jersey. She was applying for a permit to purchase a firearm for her son to use in hunting. From the mention of pheasants, a shotgun.

What's she going to do now when he turns on her?

Apparently, she plans to de exactly what she did last time.

Nowhere in the NJ FID application process is any question posed concerning others in your household or your intentions towards them.


But this is not surprising in the least. NJ courts have always held that what they widely (and wildly) define as "the interests of society" trumps personal rights everytime.

The police know that this woman CHOOSES to live with a violent, wack job who beats her up. No way should he have access to firearms.

This is pure tyranny. Deciding who can and can't have a firearm permit based on another HUMAN's history.


You know, this can apply to drivers licenses. If I live with someone who had a DUI...should the State revoke my license also? After all, being the same house, they might get my keys and go drive no?


This is so disgusting on so many levels. It just makes me return to my original thoughts. WE don't need to fight a war on terror. The terrorists are right here at home. The enemy doesn't wear a turban, or pray to allah barefoot - they wear uniforms, robes, and fine suits.

I thought it was against the law to deny someone their constitutional rights based on who they lived with or who they were married to. I remember after G. Gordon Liddy had gotten out of prison he was asked during an interview if he owned any guns. He replied "No, but Mrs. Liddy has a nice collection".

Oh wait, this was in New Jersey, I thought we were talking about somewhere in the USA.

Well, technically it's not constitutional to even have a permit system for owning firearms...but yea, that "America" is long dead. We live in the new-improved version where the constitution is in exile.

and he followed that up by stating that she tends to keep some of her collection on his side of the bed....
