Well apparently you can’t enter the Pacific Science Center in Seattle with your arms aflame. You should prolly carry a gun just in case someone makes it past security still smoldering.

So I sent them the photo and this email:
I enjoyed my recent visit to the Science Center; however, something caught my eye as I entered. The sign says "No Fire Arms", I'm glad you weren't referring to firearms as I have a permit to carry, and do so. As demonstrated recently during an attack in downtown Seattle when a deranged psychopath assaulted an innocent man minding his own business, it's probably a good idea to take one's self protection seriously.

I have enclosed a photo you can use with the sign to further clarify the position of the Science Center on Fire Arms.

Thanks!

How long do you figure it will take them to fix it?

You would think

that a science center would not only be pro gun but also know how to spell firearms.

They should be made to read Heinlein!

I believe "no firearms" signs have no authority in Washington. They may be able to ask you to leave if you're carrying. Perhaps I'll make it a point to carry there next time I return to Seattle.

There's a reason I'm wearing my shirt untucked. :neener:

Here's another one somebody sent me:

That sign carries no weight anyway, spelling aside, since the Seattle Science Center is partly or fully funded by the city and not a private entity. Much as they might like to, they may not prohibit CCW holders from carrying on the premisis, IIRC.

Spelling and grammar errors drive me nuts!

Lately I've been hearing "journalists" saying things like; "...the fact that the driver had been drinking exasperated the problem" (They mean exacerbated)

A "Rules and Regulations" signs at a local boat ramp prohibits "Gun-Whale" riding.

Mainsail, I'm stunned by the discriminatory aspects of that sign.

I thought that our society had progressed beyond the point at which it was acceptable to discriminate against women. Imagine the outcry that would be raised if the sign designated a special entrance based on race or religion. Those things were done in the past. Have we come to it again?

And how can they possibly justify the sexist term "Ladies"? It also is a term based on outmoded class distinctions between the "lady" and other "women," and the discrimination against gay people is so obvious as to be appalling.

If a person's biological sex is somehow relevant to their thinking, they should be using the labels "male" and "female." Of course they also must make appropriate accommodation for people who were born to one sex biologically but exercised their right to gender change.

So, obviously, if that facility is going to have discriminatory entrances it should at least label them in the least offensive way possible: "male," "female," and "transexual" might be a good starting point.

Unless I've misread it, that sign also seems to force people--including men--who are age 60 or over into the same category as "Ladies." There is absolutely no justification for a belief that men become effeminate or assume feminine characteristics when they reach the age of 60, and I find such a suggestion to be personally offensive and emotionally distressing. I am about to have a fit of the vapors and hope that I don't have a hissy fit too.

Such are the predictable consequences of the actions taken by people who ban guns and think it a simple matter that benefits society.

God must love idiots. He made so many of them. Unfortunately He also allows them to associate with other people, perhaps as a lesson to us all. That undoubtedly is why they give us a sign. And, in fact, many signs.

Sign looks to me like No Fire, Arms allowed. As in -- fire is not allowed in the building, but arms of any sort are. Knives, guns, swords, etc. :D
