It has been dead for years now in "larger" home wiring, most of the stuff I have done is all aluminum. You need a larger cable but it is just so much cheaper.....cheaper being an iffy term.

"inside" house is still copper.

You can say the same thing about pipes, copper pipes are about dead, with PEX really being popular for many water duties.

My local recycle place will still offer little to nothing for range brass
I gave up on collecting pickup and bad brass. I had two 5 gal buckets full (cleaned of aluminum and steel) It wasn't worth the drive to go there.
Heck aluminum cans are worth more

Your a poet and don't know it OP!:D
This has been going on for the last couple years already buy seems to be accelerating recently. Scrap locally is getting better as well but not matching the level of replacment cost unfortunately. Buying now as a hedge against future increases is a prudent thimg to do if you have excess funds.

I am more into lead as I can recover it and recycle into new bullets without a middle man or two.

2 years ago I had a 6 gallon bucket with 4" of dead primers and the rest was scrap brass and copper fittings. The bucket was only 1/3 full and I had a couple pieces of mixed copper pipe and I got $90.00 for it.

I’d say the recycle market for metals of all types is very localized. This forum (and thread) offers an unscientific validation of that.

I have metal recycling drop off outfit nearby so it’s fairly dependable if I put some scrap out at the curb, it’ll be gone by end of the day…picked up by one of scores of contractors putting granite counters & stainless appliances in our modest 60s vintage houses.

You're right that prices will eventually rise...but we're down 22% in a year, and much greater than that since March peak. However, we are still up 12% from 7-13-2020, when spot price was $6507. This may be part of the reason projectile prices (and ammo) have moderated recently.
