even the 1964 sks w/26 triangle still had chinese characters on them, but the sks pic. i posted with those type of serial#s and no chinese characters were, built in the only Russian supervised arsenal located at the jianshe arsenal. in other words early chinese manufactured sks were stamped with a 26 inside a triangle and no chinese characters which translated to type 56. this info at yooper john.

I just refinished a bubba painted sks stock for my gf's dad. It is a norinco, and he bought it that way for $150 earlier this week. I sanded the paint off, then stained the wood "red mahogany", and then applied 5 coats of laquor. Looks amazing, I will try to get some before/after pics. Cost for materials was $20 from walmart, and time was roughly 4 hours + dry time, but I work slow.

220 is an ok price in my opinion if it is in good shape and does'nt shoot around the corner. Like said, use the paint for your avantage if you don't like it and dicker with the guy. By the way, i like my Wasr

A .108 in group shot with a .220 in bullet at 50 yards, give me a break. My comment was about the general shooter no anyone specific. I do need to make one correction though. A sino soviet SKS was made in China with Russian parts. The serial number will start with an A.....chris3

Norinco

price seems fair for $220, but you might try to bargain it a bit lower or have them throw in a freebie or two such as ammo, a carry case, etc. Or try to bundle it with a purchase of something else for a quantity discount.

the camo paint job will ruin the collector value IF it had collector value to start with. does the numbers match? does it have a bayonet lug? etc.

the norinco sks are the best. the yugos do not have the nice chromed barrel inside that the norinco does. norincos are brand new while the russkie guns are hit and miss because they are all battle worn.

You can get 2 inch groups at 100 yards with high velocity sellier and bellot ammo. Sellier and bellot runs their ammo hotter than other brands. wolf is too variable, don't use it if you need accuracy.
