...buuuuut I'm definitely going to. If you meet the www.budspolicesupply.com requirements, you can get an Smith and Wesson M&P with night sights and 3 magazines for $399 shipped. They offer four variants for this price:

-M&P 40 No Mag Safety
-M&P 40 w/ Mag Safety
-M&P 40c No Mag Safety
-M&P 9 No Mag Safety

There's also a Nation's Finest Rebate for another $50 off so if you qualify you can have an M&P for $349 plus transfer fee. I'm stoked I caught this deal and wanted to share it with you guys... after I ordered mine of course.

It's more than just police officers. Here's the list:

-Active Military personnel - all branches
-Retired Military personnel - all branches
-National Guard personnel - all branches
-Military Reserve personnel - all branches
-CAP - Civil Air Patrol
-Fire Fighters - including volunteers
-Paramedics and EMTs
-TSA Employees
-Commercial Pilots
-Federal Flight Deck Officers
-Court Judges
-District and Deputy District Attorneys
-All sworn Law Enforcement Officers - city, county, state, and federal
-All retired Law Enforcement Officers - city, county, state, and federal
-All Corrections Officers
-State Licensed Security Companies

Honestly, it doesn't bother me one bit that companies offer these deals to certain professions or retirees from those professions. For example, I am prior service military. Not retired, i just did a few enlistments and got out. So i can speak to that with some authority. If I were still active duty, I would appreciate someone who runs a business making an attempt to show their appreciation for the work done by others. Same with police officers, etc.

M&P shields, M&P .40S&W....

I was on track to purchase a NIB M&P Shield 9x19mm for off-duty/back up carry. ;)
I plan to buy the new "no thumb safety" format.
Now, if S&W has a LE/military/security $50.00 rebate, I may change my plans & snag a full size M&P .40 pistol. I owned a M&P .45acp compact in 2013. It wasn't bad and fit my Blackhawk SERPA fine but I may want to add lasers/white lights to a duty pistol, so a full size .40 could do well.
If I got a new M&P pistol I was also looking into a Storm Lake 9x19mm conversion barrel for a .40 too. That way I can carry the Shield or the full size M&P on duty(security work). I need to document my pistol re-quals in my state, so I can not just buy or carry any caliber any way I want.

I plan to re-do my armed license for .45acp then get a second 9x19mm certification for concealed/back up guns. :D

Why doesn't the American public see physicians equal to Paramedics and EMT's? Don't they also save lives? Or is it because they just get paid too much...

Or any other people whose job is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public (nurses, code officials, building inspectors, architects, teachers, etc.)?

Commercial pilots, judges, and private security contractors? Because they are low paid jobs who go into harm's way for others, right?

I appreciate our cops and military as much as the next guy (probably more than the next guy) but at the same time I sometimes get weary of hearing about how everyone else's job is more righteous than mine.

Do paramedics and firefighters get shot at more than the average guy?

99.9% of all legal avenues of employment provide some essential service to society.

Except for a few rare doctors like the one who shot the Psycho recently,
they tend to be Liberals who do not own firearms and don't want anyone else to either.

Percentages of gun owner doctors & nurses are higher in the Southern States,
but still very in the minority...usually takes being a victim or knowing someone who
was victimized by violent crime to get them to arm up properly.

You would be amazed how often EMT's & Firefighters get shot at...stabbed...bitten by humans...
or attacked by dogs...fortunately they've been making bunker gear out of Kevlar/mix compounds...
While its bullet resistance is low, its better than nothing ;)
Back in the Bad Old 80's when things were a little less nice, to go to certain HUD complexes,
we would have to return to station and get BPV's, then go to the fire after cops said it was clear...
often having to wait outside the gate until it was safe.
If a FF/EMT gets shot at, we then slow response for the next year to that location...
If they get hit, REALLY slow response and only onscene after police clear the area for the next 5-10 years.
If shot & killed, they might as well put it out with a garden hose, 'cause it'll be burnt to the ground before we get there.
Nice? Not really, but that's the way it goes. Most FF's will never admit to this...but it is common city practice.
I've been retired for a few years, no problem telling the truth about it.

For dog attacks we quit being nice about it a long time ago...
if the dog is large, they simply receive the business end of a Halligan.
Most of us love dogs, but have zero tolerance for stupid owners that can't control theirs.
We understand Fright Bites...nip & runs due to fear...
but flat-out attacks from Pitts or Rottys...no way.
Dog attacks a FF/EMT, it generally doesn't get a second chance. Halligan or axe usually do the job.

My comment was in fun only and a teeny tiny bit of jealousy that I couldn't get the deal. Meant no harm. Apologies for bad humor.

To the op congrats on your grab...be sure to let us all enjoy it via your pictures. Thanks.

'to arm up properly?'

By you reasoning, Dr.s by profession know more about gunshots than anyone as a profession. Did you just prove people shouldn't own guns based on knowledge of violence?

Why would I pay more? The Mil discount at my local store offers that same pistol for $300 out the door and no transfer fee ;)

Online shopping is great. Popping your head into your favorite stores, and even not favorite stores to see what they have for deals is worth the trip sometimes.

It's just another promo and glad you qualify. If you look around there will be some pretty staggering deals this year after Labor Day. Many manufacturers, not just guns, are having a hard time moving anything. Pretty darned hard to sell a used gun these days with all these deals on new ones. I had a deal fall through this week because of it. I'm waiting for the Sig promotions.
