Now I know what the 1911 fuss is about

cool looking emp, heard a lot have feeding probs though, but it sounds like it's mostly attributed to the magazines

those are made in the Philippines. they are cheap and i've heard good reviews and bad, but do you really want a $350 1911 made in a 3rd world country??

As opposed to Brazil where the Taurus and SA come from? It was the Philippine insurrection that led to the need for the .45ACP and they have embraced it.

US support is out of Nevada and is way above average, but admittedly not as good as S&W.

My oldest RIA is approaching 15,000 rounds, I paid <$300 for it and quickly spent more on ammo run through it than I did on the gun back when Wolf was $100/1000.

EMP's are only two-tone. Stainless slide & Aluminum frame.

The feeding problems are due to the angle of the feed ramp or extractor tension. my EMP runs great. if you have problems Springfield will fix it.

thanks for the history lesson lol, but i'm not sure what the Philippine insurrection has to do with the quality of 1911's made there.

and i wouldn't buy a brazilian springer (not all are brazilian made) and i definitely wouldn't buy any taurus model either!

i know there's plenty of people that like taurus, i'm just not one of them. and the springer model you want can normally be had made in america, for some reason some mil specs and gi's are made in america (the one's lacking the "made in brazil" stamp) and some are made in brazil

like i said, i'm not saying brazilian made 1911's are bad, i would rather just buy one made in america for the same price, makes sense, doesn't it?

all Springfields start with parts made in Brazil. the NM serial numbers have more than 50% of the fitting/assembly done in the US.

yeah i need to call springer and ask before i pay $900 for a champion operator, if i'm gonna pay that much for a 1911, i want one totally made in america!

might just have to throw in another $100 and get a dan wesson bobtail-100% american made and NO mim parts

I believe all springer frames and slides(1911) are made in brazil. But some were not marked as so for one reason or another.

Looks like I was 9 minutes to late on this post!

Grant48 - I just called Taurus about the release date of the PT1911 in 9mm. Their answer was 'around the end of the year'.
