Every month the NRA magazines publish a column called the "Armed Citizen." It always presents several true incidents in which ordinary people were able to defend their lives because they had--and could use--a gun.
Perhaps not everyone knows that the NRA also publishes that column online each month.
You might find it useful to point anyone at it who asks why an ordinary person needs a gun for self defense instead of relying on the police for protection. These ordinary people couldn't do that. But they could save their own lives.

If you're not an NRA member you really should join now. The rest of us need your help. Here's that link too: https://membership.nrahq.org/forms/signup.asp?CampaignID=default
