OK...since I haven't seen anything about this yet I'll go first.

How many of us have received the "Legion of Honor" letter?

Suddenly, out of the blue, we're very special NRA members???
Considering that I haven't answered a single one of the ILA letters and didn't fall for the 'your membership expires shortly after the election' pitch (yeah, the 2006 election) it comes as a surprise that my name 'stands for something special' at the NRA....maybe as one of those who hasn't been successfully BS'd yet?
On reading closer all it really is is a pitch to renew early - again - or even sign up for life.
Don't misunderstand me; NRA is all we have that really works - but insulting my intelligence isn't the way to get my support.
:what:

Don't know who's handling their fund raising but they sure need to replace them.

I got one several weeks ago. I bought a cheap frame at Wally World and hung it in my cube at work to pi$$ off the liberal Democrats. It's right next to my Official Member of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy certificate. I try and do my part at being politically incorrect.  :neener:

Just another fund raising scam. NRA is always desparete for cash because it has no "life member" reserve of dollars. It spends every penny it takes in every year.

I'm agree with you Perfesser. The tone of the NRA fundraising letters is downright insulting. One thing you can do is request to be on the limited mailing list. This will reduce the amount of ridiculous junk mail from the NRA you have to read.

I'd also advise subscribing to the NRA-ILA alerts as they are generally more informative than most of the mail the NRA sends out.

I got one of these about 7 years ago. Since I was considering getting a life membership and the offer included would save me about $600 I used it to upgrade offer to a life membership. I am money ahead on the deal since the normal life membership fee is $750 and the yearly renewal at that time was $35.

You're right, these "honors" would maybe mean something if they didn't come with a request for more money. But they do deserve our support (IMHO). I just upgraded from Patron to Benefactor member at the discounted rate of $250 - a 'savings' of $1250:scrutiny:

Gunfyter - way to go!

Excellant ! I give ya two thumbs up for presentation..;)

Moi.

I have always and only been an annual member, with no more participitation than getting the magazine.

Legion of Honor?! I haven't gotten a letter about it and I upgraded to Benefactor about 4 years ago.

Doesn't matter anyway; I give what I can, when I can. Even Wayne LaPierre knows that constantly crying wolf will only get you so far. The anti-gunners caught us flat footed in 1994, it took us ten years to correct that problem but it's still fresh in our minds and it could happen again.
