This is from the site rules for an upcoming Society for Creative Anachronism event in Az.

http://www.estrellawar.org/SiteRules/tabid/360/Default.aspx

NO FIREARMS!

* Carrying concealed weapons (even with a concealed carry weapons permit) or possessing a loaded weapon (even in your vehicle) is prohibited on site. This is private property and privately leased by the Society.
What makes this absurd? The fact that the place will be crawling with swords, axes, knives, daggers, spears, halberds, bows and arrows and every other kind of medieval deadly weapon you can think of. :scrutiny:

I also question their right to prohibit what you can have in your private motor vehicle, even on their private property. Anybody with deeper knowledge of Az. law feel free to chime in.

Stupid blissninny retards. :barf:  :cuss:

"No guns" is a fairly common rule at SCA events. As far as "Can they do that?" Yes, private property owners can put restrictions on the use of the property. You don't *have* to go to the event.

Btw, I do know of one shooting at an SCA event that occurred several years ago. One SCA member was also an off duty cop who was required to carry when off duty. He drew on a drunk SCA member who was threatening people at the the event with a sword. The cop thought the situation warranted drawing and when the guy with the sword didn't comply with his orders, he eventually got shot.

..so an off-duty cop uses his legal firearm to stop a nut-job threatening to chop up a bunch of folks, and now in the interest of safety at their event, the SCA has banned guns, but swords are still A-OK.

PLEASE, tell me they don't let these people vote!
