While on vaction in PA. I picked up a No.4 Mk1 at a great price. But there are a few odd things about it.
It's in a Beech stock and appeares to have a No.1 MkIII* buttplate fitted to it.
It is marked No.4 Mk1 with no FTR markings but, it has been reworked at some time. It does not have an Ishy screw in the stock.
The right side of the wrist socket has been scrubed.
And the stamping on the left side is a little slopy.
Here are the markings on the barrel.
It has an early style button cocking piece. I think the bolt body is from a Savage and the bolt head is a #2 Savage.
But here is something odd and cool. I found this tag in the butt of the rifle.
The owner of the shop, I found it at, said that he had picked it up along with a bunch of other guns from an old guy that wanted to get rid of some old guns that he had had for a long time and never shot.
