if you use a standard magazine in a gun with the officers grip frame you have to be careful about how hard you seat the magazine. if you jam it in hard you could lock the slide

For my Colt C.C.O. with Officer's-size butt, I use the 7-rounders supplied by Colt (made by McCormick). For back-up mags, I use the McCormick 8-rounders with the accessory Officer's base pad that prevents over-insertion in the shorter butt. They all work 100%.
As mentioned, standard-length Government Model mags (with no over-travel pad) may bind up the gun if inserted too vigorously, but should function properly if eased in.

but you can shoot the CZ twice as much.
I was just trying to bump a thread for the curious. I'd just buy the correct officers mag and avoid problems in a carry weapon.

With some of the reports of recent Kimber quality, I think the number of trigger pulls might be identical.

My solution with my kimber compact was a 7 round Chip McCormick match grade mag. Fits flush with the grip frame and seems to be of better quality than shooting stars. My two on body spares are Chip McCormick 8 round power mags with the standard base plate swapped out for the officers base plate (avail for like $3 from CMC). The officers base plate has a longer tang on the front that prevents over insertion. This combination has worked well for me and provides 24 rounds of 45 ACP in my standard carry config with my compact. BTW it is a brass plated female dog (cleaned up for ART's Grammaw)if you get a touch over enthused and over insert a standard mag past the slide stop. No one person has enough hands to clear that stoppage easily.

On one of the other forums some users of CMC mags with the Devel (metal) followers reported that the followers gouged the feed ramps of their alloy frame Kimbers, If a search on THR yields nothing on this, you might check the Kimber or Gunsmith forums on m1911.org. Sorry, but I’ve forgotten where I first saw this information, but have observed firsthand the bad effects of CMC metal followers on Kimber alloy frames.
Wilson Officer’s style 7x work well. They have plastic followers and hold the slide back after the last round. The followers are sold separately and can be inserted into CMC mag tubes (with Wolff springs under them
) but the trick is finding the Wilson plastic followers available, and at a reasonable price. I’m sure other solutions are out there, do what works best for you.

I have never hads any problem using a standard mag in a Compact/Officers ACP.
If the slide is in battery then you can't shove it in too far.
If the slide is locked back you won't need much force to seat a magazine.
If you slam it too hard the ejector will stop it but you could possibly damage either the magazine or the ejector
But unless you SLAM it in really hard, the magazine catch should catch and hold it before it get to the ejector.
Try it first and then decide for yourself. You can always add the "doughnuts" that stop them from entering too far later if you feel the need.
