I know this is backwards, but I started reloading on progressives, (square deal B, specifically) and have loaded several zillion rounds of .38 spl cowboy loads, as well as a good number of .45 ACP and .44 Spl. Looking to start reloading rifle stuff as well. Just bought an RCBS rockchucker kit, with dies for my two calibers of interest, namely .45-70 and .222 Rem. Any tips or advice for someone new to the single stage world? The one thing I don't have yet is a case trimmer.

Mat,

I wouldn't worry about the going from a progressive press to a single stage press. Your biggest change will be going from straight wall cases to bottlenecked cases that headspace off the shoulder. Suggest you read up on it and ask questions.

Yep, sizing bottlenecked calibers is much different than stright walled pistol calibers.

Everyone has given you good advice so far. My only suggestion is to get a supply of good quality case lube and use it. You have no idea how much fun a stuck rifle case can be...in your die, not your rifle! :)
