I have found that apparently Armi San Marco of Italy makes and sells cylinders in several calibers under the name of their "Regulator", SAA revolver which I'm hoping is the same as the EMF imported "Hartford CT Model" but I'm not sure of this but it is the only one I see that fits the discription of 1873 SAA revolver. Anyway, as I have posted elsewhere, my current cylinder is a perfect fit in the frame but the cylinder throats are way to big at .458", should be closer to .452". My barrel is .451". Now I have read of others who have taken a smaller caliber .357 magnum cylinder and bored it out to 45LC specs of .452" but can other calibers such as 44-40 and 44special also be used? I wouldn't even fool with it but this handgun is perfect in fit and finish in every way except for the oversized chamber throats and if your anything like me (Lord help you) I'd like to make it perfect. Opinions?

10mm, when you care enough to send the very best.

.458 to .451 does sound like kind of a squeeze...

I wonder if using Patched Bullets would solve it?

Otherwise, unless the Cylinders are Heat Treated post-machining...seems to me you could have a smaller Calibre Cylinder bored to the .45 Cal specs you want.

I suppose the other option, would be to send your Barrel and Frame away to have the Barrel bore made a little larger...but then, this would complicate the efforts of obtaining appropriate sized Cartridge Ammunition.

I can't imagine trying to shoot a patched bullet in a revolver!

As for the oversized throats, how does the revolver currently shoot? what diameter bullets are you using? If you cast, varying your alloy will allow you to increase the diameter, maybe that would help. If not, a lightweight rifle mold would certainly give you the correct diameter.

Lots of parts are available for the Model P clone, will they all interchange? Maybe not. These folks have a reputation of being very knowledgeable so you might try calling them.

By the way, Armi San Marco went belly up a while ago and parts for their firearms are getting scarce.

ASM has been gone for several years.
QC when they were still around was always hit & miss.
